That happened to me the other day when I was walking down the detergent aisle (a too-crowded aisle where every option looks the same). Thursday, February 2, 2012. I find this ad very disconcerting. There are several contradictory situations within the image that stirs cognitive discomfort. First, the couple is dressed in cocktail wear, which is often associated with a "night" out on the town. However, they are both wearing sunglasses. I am fond of Marc Jacobs because I've always enjoyed his clothing designs and fragrance creations. His style combines classic lines with a sense of whimsicality that appeals to my aesthetics. 1 The model is dressed as a little girl and gazes at the audience as if inviting engagement. 3 The name of the fragrance, "Oh, Lola! Somehow reminds me of the famous novel Lolita. M IS FOR MAGIC.
