Braille is not a language, but a code by which languages such as English or Spanish may be written and read. What is a Braille Cell? Braille consists of cells of six raised dots arranged in a grid of three dots vertically by two dots horizontally. The dots are conventionally numbered 1, 2, and 3 from the top of the left column and 4, 5, and 6 from the top of the right column. How is Braille Made?

The Braille Guide Fund was created to solve the problems that exist today. Braille Transcribers are retiring and those positions are not being replaced. Children are not able to have electronic braille displays due to many reasons. Orientation and Mobility (O&M) instructors are retiring and takin other positions and the need to replace them is very important.
