Saturday, July 4, 2009. Sorry for the long space between updates! After Hiroshima, we visited a nearby island, Miyajima, which is famous for it's "floating shrine" and torii. Because it is built on water, when the tide moves it, it looks like it's floating on water. We took a rope away to the highest point in the island. I spent the day with two of my favorite people here, Hiromi and Christie. It was a gorgeous site! I also bought a yukata! Girls in Japan wear yukata to go to festivals like 祭り、花火. I forg...

Saturday, May 23, 2009. Please, remember me. In the car behind the carnival. My hand between your knees. You turn from me. And said 'The trapeze act was wonderful. But never meant to last'. I have been without the internet for the past two weeks, so please forgive my absence. I wanted to post the first good almost-complete image of my host family (excluding お父さん who took the picture). お父さん is adorable, yes? Very silly man. XD. The stars are there to keep you warm at night, 6:20 PM. Don't be sad :(. I lov...

Wednesday, June 3, 2009. If you can read the title line, then you know what's up. Midterms! Midterms have succeeded in making me realize: "Oh, I'm going to school.I have grades to keep up." Which is a somewhat silly and serious thought to have because 1) Everyone goes abroad to slack off and 2) I am a chronic worrier of grades, yet at the same time exert minimal effort. I'm sorry if I have dashed my parents image of me as a hard worker. Just kidding, or am I? I love seeing people from Hamilton! Last week...

Tuesday, March 24, 2009. Instead of posting pictures, which certainly lags the load time, click here for pictures. No time to blog the last two days, but I excused myself early today under the guise of sleeping. Yesterday, I made it back to school on my own without getting lost! Me and Kyle in Ginza. Yakitori. Yaki = burn/toast and Tori = chicken. Kamiya-sensei took us to Ginza, which was AMAZING. It looks exactly like Fifth Ave, with all the brand name stores! Afterward, we tried looking for a ramen sho...

Minna no Nihongo I. Est souvent pauvre en explications detailees des differentes formes grammaticales. C’est du quasi par coeur, ce qui me convient pas toujours. Qui peut se traduire par.

Alice à Paris: No wonder existentialism was born in Paris
http://aliceinparisfrance.blogspot.com/2009/03/no-wonder-existentialism-was-born-in.html
West Coast girl, reading copious amounts of French literature under the orange trees of Southern California, determines that Flaubert, Balzac, and Duras (among others) deserve to be read in their country of birth. Et voilà : elle se trouve à Paris. Wednesday, March 11, 2009. No wonder existentialism was born in Paris. 160;at Lincoln Center last May. In fact, I don't think I've been so enamored of- or engulfed by- a work of art in what feels like a very long time. Ohh you have a little accent! Gives me t...

梶芽衣子(Meiko Kaji) | la mimizone
https://mimizone.wordpress.com/2010/01/24/梶芽衣子meiko-kaji
Powered by les kanjis dans la tête, Heisig et AJATT. In order to train my ears during my Japanese study, I usually try to listen to Japanese music. Usually it’s newer things but I somehow always go back to the 70s with Meiko Kaji. Call me weirdo… What’s good about older Japanese music singers to me, is that their pronunciation is so so much better. And it is much slower too…. I like several of her songs (that are usually not super happy songs by the way). The one below, 怨み. Sur le même thème. Laisser un ...
