The Road to NYC: A plunge into normal
https://kellyrunsnyc.blogspot.com/2011/09/plunge-into-normal.html
Monday, September 26, 2011. A plunge into normal. I went for a follow up appointment today. My surgeon is so sweet, I really like her. She's happy with the healing and said I have "good contours" 6 weeks out. I guess that's good. Maybe I'll have better ones to come. Haha! I think we're just days away from my new blog! I saw the revised header today and I'm loving it! It will be a good time to start something new, even if I end up talking about the same crap anyway. What the hell was I thinking? Rememberi...

The Road to NYC: December 2010
https://kellyrunsnyc.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Tuesday, December 28, 2010. It was a great day at work - no one was there! It's a super slow week, we're all on flex time so my work days were yesterday and today, then I get Wed and Thurs off. I like that! I worked it. 6.31 miles. Overall pace was 10:09/mile which seems to be my number lately. I'm not upset with it at all, it was rough-going out there! That was the important thing! I put myself first because I knew how satisfied I'd be when I was done. Monday, December 27, 2010. Oh, did it ever snow.

The Road to NYC: September 2011
https://kellyrunsnyc.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
Thursday, September 29, 2011. When we set up our barbells I felt like a wimp. The women's RX weight was 185, which is really high for 30 DLs but I had my bar set at 65 lbs. I just didn't want to risk pulling anything. It was all guys in the class and they had their bars set anywhere from 150 lbs to 275! There was no way I was competing with that and it's not like anyone expected me to. Wednesday, September 28, 2011. Our Tuesday Night Running Club is gaining momentum! This was doing a 5 min running/2 min ...

The Road to NYC: March 2011
https://kellyrunsnyc.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
Tuesday, March 29, 2011. All work and no play. Now that I'm making the transition to more Xfit, less running, I'm finding that I'm living in a constant state of soreness. When I went less frequently I'd be sore but usually I'd be fine by the next time I went because I would have run in between. I went Saturday and Sunday, Sunday being particularly brutal on the upper body. When I woke up yesterday I was definitely feeling the cumulative effect. And a big thank you to Chris for taking my picture! That's n...

The Road to NYC: January 2011
https://kellyrunsnyc.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Saturday, January 29, 2011. 1 You didn't drive 25 minutes here on a Saturday to blow this off. 2 You could have gone to the mall if you weren't going to run but you said you'd get your long run in today. 3 Get it in today because there's no way you'll want to do it tomorrow if you quit now. 4 Don't blame Cross Fit. Don't blame the wind. Don't blame too much time on the treadmill. Runs are hard. Don't act surprised. 5 Do what you have to do but you're not cutting this run a single inch short. Maybe But wh...

The Road to NYC: November 2010
https://kellyrunsnyc.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
Tuesday, November 30, 2010. A new chapter begins. But it's new, so I'm lapsing into self doubt. I put up my pullup bar and I can get 2 solid, controlled ones in. I guess that's not bad for a starting point. I can still do at least 15 straight-leg pushups even without having done them regularly for months. I think I'm at a decent baseline to take this on. Still, I'm not used to working out with other people and especially at such a high intensity level. Sunday, November 28, 2010. Friday, November 26, 2010.

The Road to NYC: Remembering why I did this
https://kellyrunsnyc.blogspot.com/2011/09/remembering-why-i-did-this.html
Friday, September 23, 2011. Remembering why I did this. It was total role reversal for me to be so nervous getting ready for Xfit while my husband calmly sat on the bed. He has adapted so well to Xfit and I'm so proud of him. I know he wouldn't be there if it weren't for me so if he believed I could (and should) at least go stretch or do something at the box while the WOD was going on I trusted him. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). 262 miles and smiling! Well, I did it! It was absolutely the incredibl...

The Road to NYC: TNRC
https://kellyrunsnyc.blogspot.com/2011/09/tnrc.html
Wednesday, September 28, 2011. Our Tuesday Night Running Club is gaining momentum! We had a great time last night and got to celebrate our newest member's engagement in the process (congrats, Deb! When we were getting ready to leave everyone had their headphones, probably out of habit. One of the women said "you're bringing headphones? I got to chat more with her. I think this is going to be a regular thing. We're all seeing the benefits of running with other people. If the weather is shitty (and...It wa...
