62; Beer Production. Beer production can be broken down into three main stages:. This is an essential stage in the beer making. The malting stage consists of:. Pouring hot water onto the raw ingredients that have been milled into a type of flour to make it easier to extract their starch content. Conducting several malting processes and heating the mixture to turn the starch into sugar (lautering tun, ingredients and soaking). A fermentation vessel has a capacity of 600,000 litres or 1,000,000 litres.

62; Our beers. 62; The Champigneulles range. La Grande Blonde de Champigneulles [Alc.6.2% Vol.]. It is brewed using water from the Bellefontaine spring and a traditional recipe, with carefully selected ingredients. It is corn-coloured, blond but with a slightly golden tinge. It is perfectly clear, with a light elegant head and good legs. The nose is balanced and floral. There are marked flavours of malt, associated with hints of fresh hops. Advice from a beer expert*:. The Big Blond stages a comeback. Explained Patrice Colin, the brewery’s manager. The two new beers are only produced in small quantities. It’s all relative, of course, because the production level is 1,000 hectolitres. However, it’s wonderful to see industrialists bringing back two special beers with a strong regional accent. It’s pulling production up towards products with greater prestige and that’s essential for our brand image!

The beer is then transferred to the packaging area. There are two types of packaging in Champigneulles:. Glass bottles or cans. Five packaging lines are used in the Champigneulles brewery, two for glass bottles and three for cans. On each line, the principle is much the same, with a succession of stages:. Empty cans or bottles are removed from pallets. The bottles and cans are rinsed with sterile water. The containers are filled with beer and closed (caps or crimping). The bottles are labelled or dressed.
