Bred from Mooo: Christmas Day
http://bomford-moore.blogspot.com/2012/12/christmas-day.html
Knock knock. Who's there? Interrupting cow. Interrupting cow. Mooo! Thursday, December 27, 2012. The kids participated in the Christmas pagent at Nana Joyce's church. Ari was Mary. Elena was an angel. Liam was a red-and-white cow. With plenty of spirit. Nana Joyce came home between Christmas Eve church services to have dinner. And read a bedtime story to the kids. Liam was up to check his stocking at 4:30 in the morning, but he patiently let the rest of us sleep until 6:30. Elena's Lego Friends had a cafe.

Bred from Mooo: Hike in the California sun
http://bomford-moore.blogspot.com/2012/12/hike-in-california-sun.html
Knock knock. Who's there? Interrupting cow. Interrupting cow. Mooo! Thursday, December 27, 2012. Hike in the California sun. It was great to get out for a walk in the hills above Pleasanton when the sun finally came out, two days after Christmas. We could see the town sprawled out below us. At the top of the hill was a bench, where we posed for photographs. Perhaps you can find us by scrolling around this panorama. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Good news and a set back. Continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling." Philippians 2:12. Sunday, March 20, 2011. The much awaited. bounce house birthday:). My birthdays usually consist of flowers, a new outfit, and a wonderful dinner with my husband. I love our birthday tradition and have to say that I felt totally lucky that he was back in NC on March 8th this year so we could do it again! However, this year was very, very different for me because it was my 30th birthday! Then the bounce house arrived! So today,...

Working it out...: March 2010

Continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling." Philippians 2:12. Monday, March 22, 2010. Heading out of the valley. Well, I finally feel as if I am walking out the other side of the valley. God has shown me His faithfulness, His strength and His power and truth during these trials that I have faced over the past few months. I am honestly and changed person becase of what God has led me through and although it has hurt to very much - I made it with Him by my side. The journey: So much more ...

Investing in the Future as an Act of Faith | Christopher Gudger-Raines

Investing in the Future as an Act of Faith. June 28, 2014. The remarkable thing about this image is its location. These wind mills are in the largest coal-producing state in the union, Wyoming. There are many others. To be fair, I also saw a dragline. Operating along the interstate west of Laramie. So I’m NOT trying to pump up Wyoming as some bastion of earth justice. In fact its Wyoming’s status as a coal giant that makes the windmills. So on my cross-country journey, I have had a lot of time to think&#...

Tithing Isn’t Christian | Christopher Gudger-Raines
https://amongthehillsdotcom.wordpress.com/2013/11/08/tithing-isnt-christian
Tithing Isn’t Christian. November 8, 2013. Last night was our budget meeting. We talked about our giving, wondered what we’re going to do for falling short on apportionments and bemoaned not having enough. A conversation arose about tithing. The older generation tithed as a ‘duty’. Others expressed how tithing gets rewarded: with further wealth or at least security. So what is our new covenant standard? Many point to John Wesley’s advice in his sermon “The Use of Money”. The Use of Money, emphasis mine).

The Merciful Church | Christopher Gudger-Raines
https://amongthehillsdotcom.wordpress.com/2014/01/06/the-merciful-church
January 6, 2014. Go and learn what this means: I desire mercy, not sacrifice. Humanity still has a long way to go to learn Jesus’ lesson. As the church is an entity of humans, so too does the church have a lot to learn about mercy. What if mercy were at the heart of the Christian church’s witness (instead of say holiness, family values or even salvation)? Perhaps we could encapsulate the entirety of the gospel were we to focus on giving and spreading mercy. Though the greatest commandments are. Even if y...

The United Methodist Church, Shame and LGBT Suicide | Christopher Gudger-Raines
https://amongthehillsdotcom.wordpress.com/2014/03/27/the-united-methodist-church-shame-and-lgbt-suicide
The United Methodist Church, Shame and LGBT Suicide. March 27, 2014. Suicide. This is the deep, dark, truthful mirror the LGBT community is holding up to the church. LGBT young adults who are rejected by their families are 8.4 times more likely to attempt suicide than their LGBT counterparts who are accepted ( see CDC. The church is the family of God. This is the crux of the issue. It’s time for the church to take a look and take responsibility. First, the shame that leads to suicide is largely external.
