Chinese Apples: May 2011

An American Werewolf in Amsterdam. Monday, May 2, 2011. What Is Community (and why we need to have a conversation about it) – Part 1b. Wow, I really started a conversation with my last post about community. Thanks to everyone who stepped up to the plate and commented. I appreciate it. I think community is like that, too. It’s a frightening thing to try and create some sort of social unit, by yourself, from scratch. What if no one is interested? Worse, what if everyone thinks you’re weird for trying?

Chinese Apples: January 2009
http://chineseapples.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
An American Werewolf in Amsterdam. Saturday, January 31, 2009. Apologies for the extended silence around these parts. Catching up to my life and all that. But it's good, I'm here, I'm alive, I'm thriving. I have to admit, I had some trepidation about spending Christmas in Florida. It would be warm. It would be familiar. For pictures of the canals, markets and more street pics, and this post. For some shots of our chapel). We continue our t...

Chinese Apples: April 2009
http://chineseapples.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
An American Werewolf in Amsterdam. Thursday, April 30, 2009. Yesterday was Queen's Day in The Netherlands, a major national holiday. I will have a full post with pictures up later, but as lovely as the day was in Amsterdam tragedy struck elsewhere. The Royal Family was in a parade in Apeldoorn when a rogue motorist. Ploughed into the crowd. Apparently he was trying to hit the royal bus. He failed at this, but several people have died and many more were injured. Monday, April 27, 2009. As I write this he ...

Recent (and not so recent) reading from the Kronemeijers. We both love reading - and are fascinated by what others are reading. It seems thus worth it to share what we're reading - and this is also a convenient way to have an account somewhere of what we've read. Thursday, September 11, 2008. Hoe overleef ik mezelf? A friend on Facebook recommended this book - and posted the link to the (then) free pdf. The book is worth picking up and thinking about. I think it would also make a good book for a discussio...
