Consider the Calling: August 2011
http://burkinajohnson.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
Snippets of life in mission by the Johnson family. Wednesday, August 17, 2011. It's been nearly 3 whole months since we last posted on our blog! The beginning of rainy season always brings lots of dust as the big rain storms swoop in and stir up all the sand lying around from the last few months; we weren't prepared for this particular storm so we didn't get the windows closed up fast enough - 15 minutes is all it takes to get a layer of dust over everything! Sam Brenize and Ed Arnold finish pulling wire.

Consider the Calling: New Years Resolutions
http://burkinajohnson.blogspot.com/2012/01/new-years-resolutions.html
Snippets of life in mission by the Johnson family. Sunday, January 22, 2012. I can't believe it's been so long since my last post! I think I started my last post similarly. This time I blame my chaotic life. Oh, well. I was tempted to make a New Year resolution about keeping up on our blog better, but I'm afraid it won't work. I know. I'm a coward. The domes in Banfora, a cool natural rock formation. The famous Banfora waterfalls. In August we said goodbye to our good friend Liz Barr as her one year term...

Consider the Calling: How to Help
http://burkinajohnson.blogspot.com/p/how-to-help.html
Snippets of life in mission by the Johnson family. Prayer is the heart and soul of our ministry. SIM’s motto is “By Prayer” and as we continue to get to know our SIM colleagues better, we are fully convinced that they mean it! We are growing in our understanding of the power of prayer, but if nothing else, our first overseas term has taught us how vital and important prayer support is to our ability to do anything! This level of partnership is based on a mutual commitment to daily intercessory prayer....

Snippets of life in mission by the Johnson family. We are an American family of 4 from Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania who, in trying to follow God's call to serve Him wherever He might lead us, have found ourselves living in West Africa! Knowing that the Lord wanted to use our interest in international missions for His purposes, we applied and were accepted by SIM. In 2005 to serve as long-term missionaries. Our current (and first) assignment with SIM has us living in Mahadaga. Get to Know Us a Little!

Consider the Calling: October 2010
http://burkinajohnson.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
Snippets of life in mission by the Johnson family. Wednesday, October 27, 2010. A ministry of Sharing Sorrow. I don't meant to imply that the Burkinabe way of processing grief is better. I can't even claim to know much about grief on a personal level, so who am I to judge what is appropriate? The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures;. He leads me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul;. He guides me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake. This past Th...

Consider the Calling: April 2011
http://burkinajohnson.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
Snippets of life in mission by the Johnson family. Wednesday, April 27, 2011. It was a mercifully slow day today. None of us got much sleep lats night because Joel fussed and cried and generally kept us up most of the night. Not sure if he's getting sick or just too hot. Hopefully tonight won't be a repeat. By now, I'm sure you can see where this is going. We had a regular toe-painting party this evening (fortunately for Dale, he escaped, though). When Caleb realized what was going on, I had alre...Inste...
