What Did Peter See? | Leadership On Mission
https://brianrhawkins.wordpress.com/2010/04/02/what-did-peter-see
A Catalyst for Discussion. What Did Peter See? I was challenged today by a local pastor who asked us all at a Good Friday service a simple question:. What would Peter have seen, looking into the eyes of Jesus immediately after denying him 3 times? If Jesus had been standing near by, so that Peter could have seen him….a rooster faintly crowing in the distance….what Peter have seen as the realization of what he had just done sank in, and he stared intently into the eyes of his Rabbi? Thats what I see.
The Myth of Redemptive Violence | Leadership On Mission

A Catalyst for Discussion. The Myth of Redemptive Violence. Ok so first things first…I know I haven’t blogged in a week….I’ve been busy🙂. But in this past week, there has been one main topic that has been rolling around in my head…. The Myth Of Redemptive Violence. Well it basically draws into light that in modern society, there is almost an unspoken understanding that says that violence, no matter how brutal, can be justified as long as we agree morally with the reason for the violence. Because the sim...
Fighting The Bible | Leadership On Mission
https://brianrhawkins.wordpress.com/2010/03/03/fighting-the-bible
A Catalyst for Discussion. Today I fought the Bible. I’ve spent the last couple of weeks preparing for the sermon I need to preach this coming sunday, and I’ll be honest this was the hardest time I have ever had writing a sermon. The passage of scripture wasn’t the problem, its not like it was boring or anything…I just felt like I couldn’t write. I spent hours sitting down in front of my laptop trying to start writing. I read commentaries, dictionaries and articles. I just couldn’t write. If you read thi...

A Catalyst for Discussion. Bull;March 2, 2010 • 2 Comments. I have found myself reflecting lately on the relationship between an individual’s “emotional state” and their “spiritual state”. It takes alot of time to put the word “state” in quotations like that, so I’m going to stop…please insert the quotations yourself… in your head. It is almost as if our emotions become the “measuring stick” by which we evaluate our spiritual health. Now I am not intending to make a blanket statement of all people at all...

Ramblings of a fool on a journey. Seasons: the bittersweet reality of Student Ministries →. This is why He came. February 26, 2013. As I’ve been trying to think and pray and make sense of the tragic massacre that happened in Connecticut on December 14th I can’t shake this painful awareness that we need Jesus! Photo credit: Unknown… Google Image Search). I’m not going to try to suggest I know how to fix it or that I have a solution to any of these travesties, but I think we’d all agree… ...I’ve foun...

Ramblings of a fool on a journey. Newer posts →. July 9, 2011. Everything is possible for the one who believes. 8220;I do believe, help me overcome my disbelief”. Belief is a funny thing. We can believe many things and yet the belief does very little to impact us. Even though I do in fact believe that they are better for me than the veggies in my fridge. Here, He is asked if He can heal a demon possessed boy. He tells the father that “everything is possible for one who believes.”. I think what he’s...

Ramblings of a fool on a journey. Seasons: the bittersweet reality of Student Ministries. The Bible. TL; DR; GiHR (Too Long; Didn’t Read; Got it Horribly Wrong) Version. November 25, 2014. I’ll let you read it…. Kind of fun right! It’s especially fun to read out loud. the things. the things. the things. It’s kinda funny. What has been troubling me about it though is how blatantly wrong it is! I’ve often felt a personal mandate or vendetta to be an agent for dismantling these inaccurate views of Jes...

How much longer, you wonder? It does not really matter. You came this far through sweat and might. You trained for this, both day and night. When you are tired and growing weary,. For the western wind will guide you clearly. The distance is closing. The time is near. It makes no difference. If it is night or day.
