Rosa's Poetry Archives: CS Lewis. Yes, you are always everywhere. But I,. Hunting in such immeasurable forests,. Could never bring the noble Hart to bay. The scent was too perplexing for my hounds;. Nowhere sometimes, then again everywhere. Other scents, too, seemed to them almost the same. Therefore I turn my back on the unapproachable. Stars and horizons and all musical sounds,. Poetry itself, and the winding stair of thought. Leaving the forests where you are pursued in vain. Labels: C.S. Lewis. A Boo...

rosa-sinensis: I Think We're Alone Now
http://rosa-sinensis.blogspot.com/2011/02/i-think-were-alone-now.html
I Think We're Alone Now. I am alone. It is a rare occurrence, and something that I cherish. I'm not saying that I prefer a hermitage to the hurricane of activity which swirls around me daily, just that it is nice to get out of the wind sometimes. The Littles are asleep, the spouse is in an undisclosed city on the east coast, (which I will refer to as La Gran Pomme.). Because black was how I felt on the inside. Now, in my thirties, I know the truth. I do better alone because my brain is feeble and easi...

http://rosa-sinensis.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
Introducing a New Blog: Tremulous Beginnings. It's good to be back here at rosa-sinensis! I'm here in a new capacity, via iPad and wireless keyboard, feeling so Jetsons and tremulous, which is a weird combination. This whole post is really just a lead up to a new blog I'm starting, the back story because I love context. We couldn't keep them running-so in the end, we sold them. Hey, I'm writing again! Don't know how long this will last, this combination of time, quiet, computer and mental bandwidth, but ...

rosa-sinensis: Bricks in the Cave::by Susan Harwood, A Review
http://rosa-sinensis.blogspot.com/2007/11/bricks-in-caveby-susan-harwood-review.html
Bricks in the Cave: by Susan Harwood, A Review. Read it and tell a friend. The Bricks in the Cave is set in coastal England. (So right away I'm charmed.) The hero of the story, Charlie is being pursued by Ed (the neighborhood bully) along the cliffs above the ocean. He slips and falls off the cliff edge, and ends up in a large cave. In the cave, inexplicably, are stacks of boxes. Pirate's booty? And why is Charlie and his friend, Simon, being followed? Are they in danger? Will they get even with Ed?

rosa-sinensis: Rosa's Skiving Archives: Dinosaur Comics
http://rosa-sinensis.blogspot.com/2010/02/rosas-skiving-archives-dinosaur-comics.html
Rosa's Skiving Archives: Dinosaur Comics. Sorry to anyone who checked in earlier, only to be greeted by the disconcerting image of only HALF of Ryan North's incomparably silly Dinosaur Comics. Somehow I couldn't quite squeeze it all into the space allotted me by Blogger. I think I need some sort of. code. Umthingy. Something that I should have. But don't? Sorry for that detour into technical matters. I hope I didn't lose anyone. Believe it or not, I didn't really understand much of it myself. A Book of S...

rosa-sinensis: King Edmund the Just, Lent & My Daughter's Imagination
http://rosa-sinensis.blogspot.com/2010/03/king-edmund-just-lent-my-daughters.html
King Edmund the Just, Lent and My Daughter's Imagination. We started reading the Chronicles of Narnia to G a few months ago-I've been looking forward to this stage in her life for quite a while. I vaguely remember reading the first couple of Narnia books as a child; they were definitely enjoyable, but it wasn't until I was an adult that I read the series completely. What, are they on crack. So with Narnia, each evening we'd read another chapter or two and we soon plowed right through The Lion, the Witch ...

rosa-sinensis: Now We Are Six
http://rosa-sinensis.blogspot.com/2011/01/now-we-are-six.html
Now We Are Six. Well, that's done. Happy Birthday to our own sweet girl-Little Miss G is six today! And true to form, we went completely over the top for her birthday. But I think it was nothing that a large mug of sweet milky tea and "Tokyo Godfathers" couldn't cure. We're done in! But glad to have parented 'Little Bit' for six lovely years. Labels: Life with G. Happy birthday and congratulations to you all. February 1, 2011 at 10:04 AM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). A paper elephant: heidi. The Ga...

http://rosa-sinensis.blogspot.com/2010/09/rosas-quote-archive-james-martineau.html
Rosa's Quote Archive: James Martineau and Jesus, or She Ra vs the Vine. Nothing less than the majesty of God, and the powers of the world to come, can maintain the peace and sanctity of our homes, the order and serenity of our minds, the spirit of patience and tender mercy in our hearts. Then will even the merest drudgery of duty cease to humble us, when we transfigure it by the glory of our own spirit." -James Martineau. What glory of our own spirit is he talking about? She-Ra, Princess of Power. Smacks...
