Brooklyn To Vancouver: What is it?
http://brooklyntovancouver.blogspot.com/2008/04/what-is-it.html
We moved back to Vancouver after seven years in Brooklyn. This blog is the result. Tuesday, April 8, 2008. Seen at SFU. If you take the stairs under the Rotunda to the bus stop, this structure hangs above you. It appears to be- oh I don't know- unwound videotape? Used to create a kind of suspension bridge from one side of the Rotunda to the other- about 10 meters. Christo-inspired installation art? A statement about the accelerated aging of "new media"? Bored/drunken end-of-semester undergrads on a prank?

Brooklyn To Vancouver: February 2008
http://brooklyntovancouver.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html
We moved back to Vancouver after seven years in Brooklyn. This blog is the result. Wednesday, February 27, 2008. Aunt Rose, of Blessed Memory. Aunt Rose would have turned 100 this month. She died last summer shortly before we left New York. We were lucky to have lived in the same city as she did for the last seven years of her life. In fact, just about every guest turned up with some sort of non-gift gift that Aunt Rose couldn't refuse. A little while later we were opening our fortune cookies. Aunt R...

Brooklyn To Vancouver: Borscht Of Unusual Size
http://brooklyntovancouver.blogspot.com/2008/01/borscht-of-unusual-size.html
We moved back to Vancouver after seven years in Brooklyn. This blog is the result. Saturday, January 5, 2008. Borscht Of Unusual Size. Normally we think of our ancestral homelands (those on both the Jewish. Sides of the family) as the locus of large beets that might account for the amount of borscht I just made. But the problem was not in fact the beets, of which I had three (3) smallish ones. The problem was all the other stuff I kept thinking of to put in the pot that would make it good. I was asking f...

Brooklyn To Vancouver: November 2007
http://brooklyntovancouver.blogspot.com/2007_11_01_archive.html
We moved back to Vancouver after seven years in Brooklyn. This blog is the result. Sunday, November 25, 2007. Naiad Nymph, Shapeshifter, Possible Lesbian. You are going to think we do nothing but shop for big-ticket. That's not true. We spend most days not spending a cent. I take public transportation to work, carrying a packed lunch. Winnifred works at home and doesn't even buy a bus pass. We're just as abstemious as all get out. Why, the Baby Name Wizard. Monday, November 19, 2007. Unctuous that landsm...

Brooklyn To Vancouver: Self-portrait with Mangosteens
http://brooklyntovancouver.blogspot.com/2007/08/self-portrait-with-mangosteens.html
We moved back to Vancouver after seven years in Brooklyn. This blog is the result. Sunday, August 12, 2007. This blog is in danger of becoming a food blog. Which would be a bad thing because we already have a favourite food blog. But we've noticed that in New York there is a tendency to pump prices up as a form of circular self-regard: if it costs more, it's better; and I'm better because I paid $10 for a piece of fruit. The Seasonal Asian Fruit Taste Test. Then by pulling the bottom half away. I was sur...

Brooklyn To Vancouver: Re-Hemp
http://brooklyntovancouver.blogspot.com/2008/01/re-hemp.html
We moved back to Vancouver after seven years in Brooklyn. This blog is the result. Saturday, January 19, 2008. Last month when I described a rather odd chocolate bar. And its even odder product insert. I promised to follow up once the product had been both eaten and researched. Than a food source. One of the claims was that one half to a complete chocolate bar should be eaten for breakfast, after which you probably won't need to eat again for quite a while, ergo you will lose weight. Well, it's 1220 calo...

Brooklyn To Vancouver: May 2008
http://brooklyntovancouver.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html
We moved back to Vancouver after seven years in Brooklyn. This blog is the result. Wednesday, May 14, 2008. Some years ago, when Winnifred was the regular staffer and I was a student employee at the Peak. I admit it, I yelled at Dean. He was apologetic. He offered us an original, signed cartoon to make up for the brownies. Working on the theory that Dean would be famous some day. And his juvenilia might be worth something, we accepted. Thanx for the cartoon. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Our Other Web Sites.
