Paintings of Scotland and other inspirations. Tuesday, 6 May 2014. And the dog came too! My home with the Open Studios Banner and a visitor at the door. It's been a week since our Open Studios event and I think I'm still recovering from all the painting and tidying and welcoming and talking. It was extremely busy and I think most people had a successful time . Here are a few photos of inside my house though they don't feature the studio which is up a few stairs and was also open for browsing thfough.

It's never looked so prim and tidy. I chose four paintings to be printed as postcards and I'm very pleased with the quality. Paintings of Scotland and other inspirations. Wednesday, 28 May 2014. Painting in the Algarve. Sketch - charcoal, watercolour, oil pastel - 4x6". I've just returned from a 5 day painting course with Emily Ball in Portugal. I've lots of sketches and a couple of paintings and some photographs to. Try to recapture a sense of place to inspire future works. The sketches were done using charcoal, watercolour, oil pastels and pencil and was a messy process. Hope I'll remember, and which affected my work was to.

Sketching in Scotland and other bits and pieces! Monday, 26 November 2012. A dry Sunday and no plans except to go out and about locally and try once more to sketch in gouache. The grasses were very bleached and the sky a pale yellowy grey with the sun a white orb. I added some pencil marks when the gouache had dried. I don't find it the easiest medium but prefer it to watercolour for sketching now. 28 November 2012 at 03:00. They are fresh and lovely! 1 December 2012 at 14:00. 9 December 2012 at 03:29.

Sketching in Scotland and other bits and pieces! Wednesday, 22 August 2012. It's a "back" thing! 2B and 4B pencil on cartridge paper. I went to a Life Drawing Group on Sunday held in an old stone barn. It's a good thing it was a warm day but a really interesting venue owned by a sculpture under the name of Justin Illusions. Sam, our model , is excellent - I don't know how she sits so still for so long. These were half hour drawings done in the afternoon after shorter morning poses. And don't mention feet!

Forgot how wonderful is that sense of freedom even with a wobble or two and a hard saddle! It's been 46 years since I last rode a bike! 11 July 2012 at 14:31. Be careful on that bike! I broke my wrists (yes both of them) two years ago and havent been allowed on it since! You do know the front brake from the back one? Enjoy, I miss it!
