The Rock County Raceway is a 4-lane 'bullring' oval built from MaxTrax routed sectional track. The straightaways are 3 feet long and the turns have an outer radius of just under a foot. That gives a tabletop size of 5 feet by just under two feet. Overall, the outer lane is 10ft 7 inches long and the inner is 7ft 10 inches. The average lane length is 9ft 2 1/4 inches or 1/9th of a 1/64 scale mile or 2/15ths of a 1/76 scale mile (for T-jets). Definitely a bullring. See the MaxTrax build.

How do we run a race? On the Rock County Raceway, we run three different race formats:. Qualifying heats followed by finals - with one or two racers stepping-up from each final to the next. Drivers run on each lane and the most laps wins it. Sometimes run as a pairs race. A points race format. One race will be chosen as the evening's feature race and the winner will have their name inscribed in the Rock County Raceway Hall of Fame.

Rock County Eighth Mile. A great oval track should have a drag strip somewhere nearby. The Rock County Raceway now has a scale eighth-mile-ish strip just the other side of the wall to where it is stored between races. The strip measures six foot ten inches from start to finish. If the figures matter, 82 inches = 0.0012942 mile. At. 1/64 scale, that's 1/12 mile; at. 1/76 scale = 1/10 mile or 176 yards; and. However, drag racing is what it is - the first one down the strip - no matter how long the distance.
