BRIMS Goes to Ireland. Ireland Study Trip 2010. Newer posts →. June 27, 2010. The classes of the 25th were great craic (pronounced crack=fun) in the old mother tongue. We all found Irish to be very complicated and difficult to pronounce, but learned some fun expressions and got a little bit of a sense of what Irish spoken by native speakers sounds like. Evening brought music, visits to the pub and another late night. Here are a few pics:. Tommy Keane’s house. Sunset over Galway Bay. Co Clare, Ireland).

BRIMS Goes to Ireland. Ireland Study Trip 2010. Tralee Reels, Jigs, Ceilis, and Slip Jigs →. June 29, 2010. In addition to left side of the road driving, the roads in Ireland tend to be, shall I say, a bit narrow. The passenger in most cars must keep his/her hands inside the vehicle until the ride has come to a complete stop. Today Sophie and I discovered a side mirror graveyard. This gives new urgency to the care we must take navigating the roads here! This entry was posted in BRIMS trip 2010.

BRIMS Goes to Ireland. Ireland Study Trip 2010. Driving in Ireland →. June 29, 2010. Our trip from Doolin started very early, after a long and very dark drive from Tommy’s back to the excellent Ailee River Hostel. About 3 minutes into our trip Eddie declared he was getting tired from the navigating. I laughed. He said, no seriously. This entry was posted in BRIMS trip 2010. Driving in Ireland →. How do you play that tune, anyway? A Case for Guitar →. Session I Class – Jan 2014. January 15, 2014. If you enjoy fiddle and banjo, you missed a fabulous display of it last night with Kevin Burke and John Carty. Here are a couple of sets from Patrick Street (Kevin, John, Andy Irvine and Arty McGlynn). A Set of Reels. A lovely composition by Turlough O’Carolan (and if you don’t know who that is, start the video at the beginning for an explanation by Kevin). Have a listen here. Here’s another version.

Summer Tunes and Songs. How do you play that tune, anyway? Session I Class – Fall 2013. September 4, 2013. Good to have Jim back in class this week. So in his honor, Lark in the Morning. So this week, our tune was Devaney’s Goat. This is a nice straight forward rendition of it (with an appropriate backdrop). Here’s another version. Of the version I originally learned. Which you can listen to here: Brenda Stubbert’s Reel (Am). Also, you might enjoy hearing a set played by Brenda Stubbert. Well, apparently...

The Earl’s Chair. Trad Tunes Fall 2011 →. Pipe on the Hob. October 6, 2011. This week, Alex taught Patrick Ourseau’s version of Pipe on the Hob which is a completely different tune than the one I know. Pipe on the Hob (Alternate version) Watch. So, who knows how we ended up with different versions out there? Pipe on the Hob.

Brim's Trims Handcrafted Lampwork Beads and Jewelry

Lampwork Beads and Jewelry. The Art of Lampworking:. Lampworking in simple terms, is the ancient art form of melting glass with the use of a flame from a torch, into beads and various sculptures. I also think that there is a bit of magic in there too. Well, the trimmings are all of it! So jump on in and see what trims there are for you. All my beads are lovingly made by me in my home studio, properly annealed in a digitally controlled kiln, and cleaned with a diamond bit and dremel. Ottawa, ON, Canada.
