Sunday, June 14, 2009. THE ART OF HARVEY KURTZMAN, THE MAD GENIUS OF COMICS by Denis Kitchen and Paul Buhle is finally out, and well worth the wait. I spent a pleasant afternoon and evening going through it. Every page held a surprise for me, and I've been a Kurtzman fan for five decades. In 1966 comics historian John Benson published a small portfolio of ten Kurtzman Hey Look! Pages By today's standards it was very modest, but it was the first time many fans, including me, had seen them. So long, sucker!

Saturday, August 1, 2009. It's more Hey Look! Was a strip that MAD creator Harvey Kurtzman did for Stan Lee in the late 1940s. Random one-page strips appeared in many comics, and a collector could spend years collecting them all. Denis Kitchen solved the problem by publishing a major compilation of the strips in 1992. British Rock Calendar 1974 - APRIL. In April we saw Mott the Hoople and Alan Price in the. Same week.These were both great concerts. Alan Price had just released. His classic LP, "Between Today and Yesterday". We saw him perform at The Great American Music Hall in SF. We saw Leo Sayer at the SF Boarding House the following week. Leo gained recognition from Roger Daltry's first solo album. Being an unknown, he allowed Daltry to record his songs. Leo's first tour of the USA and he wore. 169; Pete Frame 1993.
