The beck is a haven for wildlife last year I shared a pool with an otter, there is also abundant bird life and the banks in places have adders and slow worms. Went to Leverhulme Park where Bradshaw Brook joins the river Tonge to fish and check out a "No Fishing" sign on Bradshaw Brook that Dave Bendle had asked me about. I also did my usual and photographed the invasive weeds on both waters, there is lots of it down there. Thursday, 31 July 2014. Ewood Bridge and Bradshaw Brook 31 Jul 14. Some rain over night and lots more forecast for tonight and tomorrow. Went a day early to Ewood Bridge for the August kick sample, the river was up a little and had colour. The sample was pretty much the same as last month but still well down on last years figures. One difference was Water Snails, the first time that any had turned up in my sample. Although it did not look very promising I decide to have a fish. Thursday, July 31, 2014.

Tuesday, 23 September 2014. The Irwell Ladyshore 22 Sept 14. The Irwell is very low but as Ladyshore is after the Roch comes in there is usually a fair bit of water and so it proved. Fished the weir and up with 2 spiders, nothing doing. Sat for a bit whilst i thought about a change, then tried a Copper John nymph fished across and down, same result. Moved down the riffle not hoping for much, when another take which did not stay on for as long as the first one. No joy there, or from the weeded area below.
