Lesa and the church ladies. In southern Kenya, a stones’ throw from Tanzania, and 20 km from the nearest town is the small Masai village of Olepishet. The church here was planted by missionaries several years ago, but there is no longer any western presence here. The church has continued to thrive and grow in a Masai context. Lesa wrote her own degree in college, and called it “International Ministries with an Emphasis in Fine Arts”. She was hoping to teach the fine arts at a missionary school in Africa someday. In 2008 she got to revive that dream when our school (not named here for security), a Christian mission school in Nairobi, asked her to take over for the retiring drama teacher. Dear Friends and Family, As we sit here in our cozy new home in Colorado Springs, with a gorgeous view of Pikes Peak out the windows and a warm fire going next to us, we are blown away by God’s goodness and faithfulness to us. We have a home we can call our own and furniture to sit on! Our kids are in excellent schools with teachers that care! Tuesday, August 23, 2011. A week ago a dear friend of mine passed away. She was an amazing person and I am so blessed to have had her as my friend. Colleen and I became good friends when we were single and in the Student Branch (church) in Lewiston, ID. She was one of a group of us girls who all got married within the same year and then we all had our first babies together. We were a tight knit group and had so much fun!
