8230;because cooking is awesome. Shaved Squash Salad with Lemon Shallot Vinagrette. I’m ready for something light. The comfort foods of cooler weather just seem heavy and unappetizing now that the days are longer and the sun is shining. Well, that plus the candy fest that seems to run from St. Valentine’s day through Easter. Ugh. No more sugar. Please. Shaved Squash Salad with Lemon Shallot Vinagrette. Serves 2 as a side, or one for lunch. 1 c walnuts, toasted. 1 thin zucchini, shaved in to strips. These...

8230;because cooking is awesome. Well, folks. I’m taking a little blog time off – have some projects around the house to finish, and not enough time in a weekend to do them both. (sigh) We’ll be back this summer. See you then! 1 thought on “Stay tuned”. 12/05/2015 at 12:25 pm. How about M- F? Are you busy then too? How about a bit less sleep? It’s quite overrated don’t you know? Could you get up earlier? Sigh Until you grace us with your presence again. . . . . . Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

8230;because cooking is awesome. Why did I make this blog? To share recipes and food-related things with my friends, and perhaps make some new food friends. One autumn day I realized I spent most of my time on FoodPorn Daily. Then sharing shots of our meals and recipes on facebook. I realized a blog mightn’t be a better channel for my obsessive tendencies. Muy tasty, well. 9 thoughts on “About me”. 06/02/2014 at 12:49 pm. Just checking up…ahhh, in! 06/02/2014 at 6:24 pm. 8230;because cooking is awesome. Perhaps. But I don’t fucking care. What are the herbs and spices you use all the time? You know, the go-to-can’t-cook-without-them ones. Your desert island selection. Besides the obvious kosher salt and fresh black pepper, I think the two straight spices I use ALL the time are freshly grated nutmeg and thyme. But there are three others that I have come to realize I cannot cook without. One of these days I’ll post the how to for the mash and the sauce. In the mea...Your em...

8230;because cooking is awesome. White Gazpacho: Adventures in the Land of Meh. Bill tells me I need start a fail tag. Made me laugh. My friend T always raves about the white gazpacho at one of our favorite wino bars. I was wracking my brain for a post idea, and a friend suggested salsa. Which made me think of gazpacho. Which made me think of T and her white gazpacho. Serve chilled. Sounds simple. Easy. I used; maybe its flavor is too strong and I needed a more neutral one. 7 ounces blanched almonds.

8230;because cooking is awesome. Scroll down to content. Vanilla Strawberry Jam….and orange scones. It’s almost spring, kind of a pre-spring really. I say this because Sprouts had quarts of strawbabies for 97 cents, and I was all over that. But….although they were red, they were not really flavorful or sweet. So, what to do with a ton of non-optimal berries? Then I remembered this awesome book I checked out from the library about small-batch canning, Food in Jars. 3″ piece of vanilla bean pod that&...

Final Details Coming Together…. Posted in Haiti 2011. 8220;All my bags are packed and I’m ready to go…”. We have finally confirmed all our flight details and whew! It was definitely a challenge to put everything together! We are flying to the northern side of Haiti to the Cap Haitien Airport and there are no commercial airlines that fly into this airport. There are many different ways we considered, but finally decided to book a charter flight with IBC Airlines. So much to do in the next week and a half!
