BUNCLODY: HOSPITAL HILL and IRISH STREET. Opposite the school is the Old Fever Hospital, built about 1820. During the cholera epidemic in 1850, after the Great Famine of 1845-1847, this hospital could not cope with the large number of victims and a temporary hospital was opened in the Mill Lane. The Fever Hospital gives its name to the hill. The Fever Hospital is now a workshop and also a residence.
