Our 3 hour drive took us on the Romantische Strasse, the Romantic Road, through beautiful countryside of villages, fields, and an occasional castle. On our way we did the scavenger hunt. Sunday, April 12, 2009. Happy Easter from Vienna. After the palace, Gerhardt took us on a tour of much of Vienna. We saw many of the theatres, palaces, embassies, and the Danube River. The architecture is amazing and so different than the other cities that we have visited on this tour. We ended the guided tour at the Prater. And The Living Daylights. A James Bond film. On a beautiful sunny and warm day starting from our hotel, Pyramidia, we strolled to a scenic overlook that took in a view of the castle complex, the valley and Old and New Town Prague. We visited Nymphenburg Schloss and learned much about King Ludwig and King Ludwig II (nicknamed by the United States "The Mad King").
