RowdyPow!: Joey Arias in "Strange Fruit"
http://rowdypow.blogspot.com/2009/10/joey-arias-in-strange-fruit.html
Thursday, October 15, 2009. Joey Arias in "Strange Fruit". An evening of Billie Holiday and witty repartee. Joey Arias hits hardest when he makes you choke with laughter in the middle of a good cry. For more than 20 years, Seattle audiences have been surrendering to Joey’s provocative sharp tongue and smooth voice. Joey himself has been eluding definition with a singular drag style that puts reverential focus on the music and resists kitschy buffoonery. Joey has collaborated with David Bowie and the late...

shadyland: pop 1: my week in pictures
http://heathershade.blogspot.com/2014/05/my-week-in-photos.html
Messin' with texas since 1973. Monday, May 12, 2014. My week in pictures. This week was a busy one filled with windstorms, ghost stories, and beautiful interesting things. I saw more tons of balloons at the dollar store. An entire ceiling full of balloons. I was so distracted I kept forgetting what I had intended to buy. I saw the Franklin Mountains get obscured in the dust, Yes, there are mountains back there! I hung out with ol' Mr. Boney at the Ghosts915 Paranormal Research Center. It was a good week.

Messin' with texas since 1973. Monday, November 23, 2009. Black Hope: The Desecration and The Curse. It is 1980 in Crosby Texas, a quiet town near Houston. Jean and Ben Williams have moved into a house in the newly-built suburb of Newport with their young granddaughter Carli. One of the first families in the neighborhood, they've been looking forward to settling into the new suburban home of their dreams. Unfortunately, that dream soon becomes a nightmare. Across the street from the Williams family, Sam ...

Monday, November 9, 2009. The Von Foxies Final Shows. The end of an era. One of Seattle’s much-beloved burlesque troupes, The Von Foxies, left local fan’s breathless when they announced they were disbanding. Billed as “Seattle’s hottest comedy burlesque power trio,” the Von Foxies have built a dedicated fan base with some of the country’s funniest acts, even earning the much-coveted “Best Burlesque Troupe” at Miss Exotic World in 2007. From drag king Ernie Von Schmultz’s furry-chested, hip-thrustin...

Philosophical (Sometimes Humorous) Tangents of Another Dimension. The Irony of My Life. It was great to see all the familiar faces I haven't seen in a while. Even though there was one 'minus a few teeth' face there I could live without seeing (or accidentally saying hi to, shit! And we hadn't spoken in over a year, fuck, why did I mess that all up? It sucks. At least I got a kiss on the cheek and picked up for a goodbye. Mind you, that took 17 years for me to get.). Toughness runs in this family. You kno...

RowdyPow!: Thee Cornucopia Cabaret
http://rowdypow.blogspot.com/2009/11/thee-cornucopia-cabaret.html
Monday, November 9, 2009. A mash-up of mostly local talent. We know the local burlesque performers are talented. We celebrate that they’re beautiful. Sometimes, we even admit that we want to BE them. But what we can’t declare often enough is how generous they are toward those who are often swept under the gritty rug of society. Doors open at 6 pm and the show begins at 8 pm Thursday, Nov. 19 at The Triple Door, 216 Union St., in downtown Seattle. All proceeds benefit Treehouse “Little W...The 4 Horsemen ...
