A Bird in the Hand: So Long Farewell...
http://birdinmyhand.blogspot.com/2011/07/so-long-farewell.html
As many of you have noticed. A Bird in the Hand has been slowly grinding to a halt. It's not that we haven't had anything to say, but that we are so busy living our lives that we had not been posting as much. Collectively it is time for us to take a break from regular posting. A Bird in the Hand: September 2010
http://birdinmyhand.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
I Need Your Ideas. As I am on a kick in terms of baby projects . I could use a little creative input! I have this fabulous piece of fabric that I bought quite a few years ago. It has the alphabet in blocks with animals and fun pictures. I bought it in a long enough length so that I have the alphabet three times over. Originally, I thought I might make Jonah some type of blanket/pillow that had his name on it. It's obvious that never materialized! So, I am now planning to use it for 2-3 baby gifts! 2) Cut...

Reusable Snack Bag Tutorial. Reusable Snack Bag Pattern. Make as many as you like, but please don't sell from this pattern. Outside Fabric ( patterned material of your choice. Inside Fabric ( I used a polyester shower curtain, I have also used PUL on bags that needed to be waterproof. 1 Cut 2 pieces from each of your fabrics. 2 Place the outside fabric "right" sides together, then place the inside fabric "right" sides facing out. Like so. And VOILA one finished Snack Bag. I hope this was easy enough to f...

A Bird in the Hand: Homemade Bread
http://birdinmyhand.blogspot.com/2011/06/homemade-bread.html
Growing up there was a time when my mom would make homemade bread. It seemed like an awful lot of work. She would get up early and knead the dough and punch it down and I don't know what else (I was in junior high and high school so I wasn't paying too much attention). I found out when I was older that she was making sourdough bread. Oatmeal Bread (by Pam Kueffer). 3-1/3 c. flour. 2 T wheat gluten. My favorite is hot out of the oven with butter and homemade strawberry freezer jam! June 16, 2011 1:41 PM.

Twin Pregnancy-Weeks 32, 33, 34 Recap. July 5, 2015. It’s been pretty crazy around here as we’ve had visitors two different weeks and are working to get everything ready for these baby girls to arrive here soon. Wow, it’s definitely surreal to think about and type, that’s for sure! Highlights of the week(s):. Two weeks ago, Elisa. Of us, plus a dog made for quite the houseful. It was a blast! The holiday weekend has been a great mix of fun and housework. We had a pretty relaxing day on the 3rd (I wor...

Sewa Needle Pulling Thread - A Snazzy Visored Headband Tutorial. The other day as I was perusing through blog-land looking for a sewing project to use up some scraps. I stumbled across this cute little visored headband. My girls have also been begging for me to teach them about the wonderful world of sewing, and this seemed like a great project for beginners. Before I posted this I looked to see if anyone else had made a tutorial, but couldn't find one. So here is what we did. Approx. 5" x 10"}. Iron int...

A Bird in the Hand: August 2010
http://birdinmyhand.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
No, not baby time for me! Errrr, I mean, just not yet. When the right time comes . I'll be excited -. But right now I'm enjoying all the other mommies having babies! I'm rather obssessed with Taggies. A dear friend from work (when I was working before Jonah was born). Made me a beautiful Taggy blanket for him. They are so much cheaper to make than to buy. Since then, I've worked on perfecting the look I like. I recently made two Taggies with these fabrics. For friends with little girls on the way. It's s...

A Bird in the Hand: Swan Song
http://birdinmyhand.blogspot.com/2011/06/swan-song.html
I'm going to leave with a poem I wrote recently that sums up some of my thoughts, fears, and reminders as a mother. Being mothers is such a blessing and a ministry. I love how the simplest things can be so meaningful and inspiring! It's hard work, but there is such joy and reward in it. I look forward to still reading up on what you're all up to here! Time, Like Bubbles. Pure delight on your sun-kissed face. Taking turns to blow and chase. Showers of bubbles cascade and rise. Catch them if you can! You h...
