NIE Green Club: October 2007
http://niegreenclub.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html
We are a group of nature enthusiasts from NIE whom have gathered to discover more about nature together. This blog is a record of events, activities and discoveries we've made. Friday, October 19, 2007. From BlockHeads to BlogHeads. Today (Friday) was the second round of workshops on blogging which was hosted by the NIE Green Club and conducted by the Naked Hermit Crabs. It was also like a mini gathering for people involved in nature, as participants from NSS. And others attended this workshop. Very soon...

into the wild: Terumbu Raya
http://intothewildsingapore.blogspot.com/2011/08/terumbu-raya.html
Excerpts from a naturalist. Thursday, 4 August 2011. One noticeable feature about this reef is the steep drop after the reef’s edge. I believe there is much to be discovered by diving in the area, particularly the channel between Terumbu Raya and Pulau Semakau. After all, dolphins, turtles and sharks are known to frequent the area. You can view more photos of the trip here. Joseph Lai Tuck Kwong. 5 August 2011 at 07:34. Beautiful, simply beautiful photos! into the wild: January 2011
http://intothewildsingapore.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Excerpts from a naturalist. Sunday, 23 January 2011. Today was the 2nd shore trip for 2011 and my third visit to Big Sisters island. My first ever shore trip was also to Big Sisters sometime in July 2010 (first sighting of a turtle) and that was during the wee hours of the morning. Strangely, we tend to visit Sisters island in the dark. Anyhow, here's hoping the winds won't be as strong during next week’s trips to St. John's and Little Sisters. Saturday, 22 January 2011. Like Sisters' Island, Pulau Hantu...

into the wild: July 2011
http://intothewildsingapore.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Excerpts from a naturalist. Tuesday, 5 July 2011. Tardy is the word. I haven't been on many nature field trips, which explains the lack of posts. I have however been participating in the usual intertidal trips to the shores and submerged reefs and all updates and photos are posted on my Facebook page Singapore Reef Watch. The last intertidal update on this blog was Changi sometime during the Chinese New Year period. Below are links to the trips after that. 1 St Johns Island. 6 Keppel Bay Marine. Butterfl...

into the wild: December 2010
http://intothewildsingapore.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Excerpts from a naturalist. Sunday, 26 December 2010. After what feels like a fairly a long hiatus, I was back to the shore, this time Sentosa, a place I had always wanted to visit but never quite got down to doing so. As with all my trips to the shore, we usually either get a fantastic sunrise or a dramatic sunset, and today's is no exception. In fact, the sunset was rather dramatic thanks to the dark stormy clouds looming at a distance. Pulau Hantu has always been on my list! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

into the wild: white-crested laughing thrush
http://intothewildsingapore.blogspot.com/2011/08/white-crested-laughing-thrush.html
Excerpts from a naturalist. Wednesday, 3 August 2011. Apparently these are fairly common in Singapore and it's range extends across South-East Asia right up to Mynanmar. Quite a few people in SIngapore have blogged about it and The NSS' Bird Ecology Study Group has quite a few write-ups about this species. These can be found here here. One of the most distinctive features of this bird is, as its namesake suggest, is it's laugh. I managed to find a very good clip on youtube showing the distinctive call.

into the wild: Kusu Island
http://intothewildsingapore.blogspot.com/2011/08/kusu-island.html
Excerpts from a naturalist. Thursday, 4 August 2011. For me, Kusu is all about corals. It is one of the few shores in Singapore (the others being Tanah Merah and Sentosa) which boasts of densely packed coral gardens. For a great overview of how dense the coral growth is, check out the photos on James' blog here. It is hard to imagine that such "coral gardens" remain in urbanised Singapore which is a mere 20 minute boat ride away. Joseph Lai Tuck Kwong. 5 August 2011 at 07:41. Joseph Lai Tuck Kwong. My fa...

into the wild: November 2010
http://intothewildsingapore.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
Excerpts from a naturalist. Tuesday, 16 November 2010. Singapore's answer to the butterfly bible! I'm a sucker for resource books and am constantly on a search for them to add to my ever expanding library. Most of these either relate to nature, interior design and architecture or cooking. When I heard that a new book on butterflies of Singapore was going to be published, I could barely contain my excitement as there is just so little resource and information relating to butterflies in Singapore. Bird eco...

into the wild: August 2010
http://intothewildsingapore.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Excerpts from a naturalist. Thursday, 26 August 2010. Although this is categorically speaking, neither flora nor fauna, volcanoes are one of mother-nature's most amazing creations. It would therefore seem appropriate that I blog about my recent experience to Mount Bromo, one of Indonesia's most spectacular volcanoes. Wednesday, 25 August 2010. If you see large mosquito-looking insects flying about the house or in the garden, particularly in the mornings, chances are, they are crane flies. Belong to the o...

By creating a timeline of events that lead up to the tragic death of my daughter. It is my belief and my opinions stated here. Most of these can be supported by the facts and I have documentation to back up child support claims. Copies of police reports and such just ask. I got them too.
