Wetzel: Before you start that dog, will you please tell me what to use to sedate this dog with the fish hook in his chest (outside) and do that, and go ahead and remove the hook. Paula: panics again, but gives an answer and works hard. The other things I have done:. Gastric lavage (pump and wash stomach clean) of 2 cats that had eaten potpourri (maintained under general anesthesia). Lots of cat abscesses. Unfortunately, lots of euthanasias, too.
