Classic Rock FM: November 2008
http://classicrockfm.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
Tuesday, November 25, 2008. Tom Taylor's Radio-Info.Com. 8220;Centralizing” looks to be one of the big words of 2009. If “consolidation” was a buzz word starting with the 1996 Telecommunications Act, then “centralization” may succeed it in 2009 – because owners now have to pay for all the “consolidation.”. It does appear increasingly likely that several companies.are looking extra-hard at locally -produced airshifts outside of drivetimes. (Ironic, given how strong middays look in the PPM.). Everything th...

Cliff Note: In honor of my recent visit to the WIXY 1260 online studios, I'm reposting this. I originally posted it September 17, 2007. I know, I know. Tim Lones. Is the classic media expert, but I've had the 74WIXYgrad moniker long enough to be able to post about one of the all time classic top 40 radio stations. Next, a shout out goes to Ray Glasser. Doing th...

Hey Der, Ho Der, Hi Der: PETA Rejected Superbowl Ad
http://heyderhoderhider.blogspot.com/2009/01/peta-rejected-superbowl-ad.html
Wednesday, January 28, 2009. PETA Rejected Superbowl Ad. As part of the civil discourse on this blog, I've tried to take the higher road that Waiting For Next Year has provided. I don't want a blog filled with naked women, partily clothed women, or cheerleader blogs. My first post had the JA GQ cover, but that's as far as I want to go. . We'll probably see numerous commercials for movies where 5,000 people will be killed, or an add for a company that supplies weapons of destruction for the US Army (go...

John Gorman's Media Blog: Radio: It's the same old song
http://gormanmediablog.blogspot.com/2009/12/radio-its-same-old-song_5650.html
Thursday, December 17, 2009. Radio: It's the same old song. Please understand that it’s as monotonous for me as it is for you to keep harping on the same old subjects day after day, week after week. You want to read it as much as I want to write it. Et al continue to coast and boast while their empires crumble. In today’s agitated cutthroat media market, competency is expected and faultless implementation is tolerable. If you believe that, you’re burnt-beyond-recognition toast. Look, politicians do it.

John Gorman's Media Blog: February 2009
http://gormanmediablog.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
Sunday, February 22, 2009. It’s the question I get asked the most: "When? The answer is: "When….". When the banks truly come clean on their toxic investments and properties. Media’s recovery (and let me preface that by saying that. Not all media will). Have everything to do with getting a factual and candid understanding of our present economic state. Toxic investments, toxic radio chains – what’s the difference? Lenders are distended with non-performing loans. I have to laugh at David Frigstad. When you...

John Gorman's Media Blog: May 2009
http://gormanmediablog.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html
Sunday, May 31, 2009. Radio: The Bigot is back! Is the Chairman and CEO of the Boston. I’ve never met him. What I know of him comes from reading his radio-as-a-victim blogs. I’m familiar with his stations. He has two of the best rock radio PDs in the business on his payroll. I hear he allows managers make their own decisions and, for that reason, has a low turnover. Some say he's loyal to a fault. It was in reference to the imminent Sirius-XM satellite radio merger. Like you, I support the First Amendment.
