North by Southwest: Rio Mora, July 3, 2015
http://northxsouthwest.blogspot.com/2015/07/rio-mora-july-3-2015.html
Sunday, July 12, 2015. Rio Mora, July 3, 2015. As we start hiking I feel like a little kid. The waders and boots are great; I can hike right through the middle of the largest pools not even thinking about skirting it. I did not however stomp or jump through the pools like a ‘real’ little kid. Banter going back and forth as they were pulling in their catches. The Mora looks to be about the same size upstream from Bear Creek. The canyon walls are closer together getting steeper and higher as we continu...

North by Southwest: Weather transitions, April 24, 2015
http://northxsouthwest.blogspot.com/2015/05/weather-transitions-april-24-2015.html
Wednesday, May 6, 2015. Weather transitions, April 24, 2015. As usual spring weather is unpredictable. If you live in the New Mexico you know spring is synonymous with wind. As we plan our hike we are watching for wind. I have seen my fly fishing buddies battling the wind and it usually makes for a very long day. The second hike is back to the Rio Cebolla. This time, Mark, another avid fly fisherman is coming along, he is looking to fish. Image courtesy of Byron. Clouds and wind are coming and going the ...

North by Southwest: Sandia Crest - Feb 27
http://northxsouthwest.blogspot.com/2015/03/sandia-crest-feb-27.html
Saturday, March 7, 2015. Sandia Crest - Feb 27. As you know I’m not a fly fisher, yet, although I have been studying Byron’s book on fly fishing Northern New Mexico for the last several weeks. I’m not certain he remembers I still have it. I am really studying it to find new places to hike. I enjoy photographing rivers; what better way to find rivers than a book on fly fishing. Back to the story. I should have paid attention to the little episode that happened in Byron’s driveway…. Our ride up to the Crest.

North by Southwest: Valles Caldera, a week later (June 5, 2015)
http://northxsouthwest.blogspot.com/2015/06/valles-caldera-week-later.html
Thursday, June 11, 2015. Valles Caldera, a week later (June 5, 2015). The Caldera draws me/Byron like a magnet. We were here only two weeks ago but we have to go again. The people working the desk recognize us from our last visit telling us what kind of water levels and fishing conditions to expect. A few people are signing up for the back road passes but there are still passes available. Does this make my trunk look big? All my reading, paying attention to my fishing buddies and You-tubing on fly-fishin...

Wednesday, February 25, 2015. Saturday, February 21, 2015. Yosemite National Park (part 3, final). Today is the final day of my workshop/vacation. Believe it or not I am up at 430 again to catch sunrise from Tunnel View. I figure I won’t be here again anytime soon so I had better do it now. The weather forecasters are predicting a front passing through the area with some wind but I’m not counting on anything. Again, I am the first one set up waiting for something to happen. . Friday, November 28, 2014. Eastern Sierra Workshop part 4. After returning from the South Lake area we stopped for lunch at Schat’s bakery, in Bishop. It is a huge bakery making sandwiches, cakes, cookies and all sorts of breakfast goodies. We picked up sandwiches, relaxed a bit before starting on the road to our next destination; the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest. Saturday, November 22, 2014. Eastern Sierra Workshop part 3. Friday, May 29, 2015. Jemez Mountains, May 15, 2015. I decided early this week to go out for another hike, this time up in the mountains. A few weeks ago we passed through this area on the way to the Rio Cebolla (May 6, 2015 posting). I saw several locations with groups of aspen just waiting to put on their spring green and thought that waiting a couple weeks would put them in full green. Sunday, May 17, 2015.
