Berkshire Blog Review: Graham Jones' Blog. Another member of the local constellation of reknowned communications experts is Graham Jones, Internet Psychologist. What is that, you may reasonably ask? If you've ever wondered about the seemingly irrational behaviour which so many people try to explain and justify their online habits, an insight the instinctive motivations will help you understand how to waste efforts in search of little return. Publisher: Graham Jones Business Group. February 28th, 2008).

Reading List: March 2011

Thursday, 24 March 2011. Moving Newsweek, introducing Blogweek. Some readers noticed the regular ' Newsweek. Feature didn't appear in it's usual Monday slot on Reading List. But this wasn't a simple oversight, as several behind the scenes discussions suggested it has been veering off-course as it focussed more on the Berkshire trend, rather than the local Reading scene - and this made it more suitable for the Berkshire Blog Review page. Tuesday, 16 February 2010. 5,000 and counting! And so I continue to trawl through the local blogosphere using the variety of techniques and tools I've picked up on my travels. But today it's worth shouting about this milestone that I've reached - I have today discovered my 5,000th identifiably Berkshire blog! Although some are more active than others and there are some which defy description I have to admit I'm quite proud of this statistic. Now all I have to do is continue trying to categorize them all!

Not Yet Out Of The Woods: January 2011

http://notyetoutofthewoods.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html

Saturday, 29 January 2011. The state of the Unions. So trade unions are positioning themselves to be the organising force behind the opposition to spending cuts. In my view this is a major strategic error as trade unions are still officially and practically affilliated to Labour, so their opposition cannot be considered non-partisan and one therefore has to question the basis for their opposition. A neat reversal that! As a case in point the LFA conflict (or Boris vs Ken rematch, as others would have it.

Sunday, 30 January 2011. Thanks to all the supporters and well-wishers who've got in touch to ask whether Reading List would be consigned into the nether yonder of the internet. I'm happy to announce that after some (much-discussed) changes the blog will resume postings (albeit in an initially scaled-down form). As a purely voluntary effort, Oranjepan was struggling to find enough hours in the day to properly maintain and monitor the 5,000 source sites and feeds. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Vine was alwa...

Tuesday, 22 June 2010. Why it matters. voting. It would be easy to roll out a lengthy diatribe on this, talking about how it's your taxes, your life and your future which is at stake. Or I could mention how millions of people have fought and died for the privilege which many people still don't have. But I think humour says it better than I could, for which I'm indebted to Cookham's Dave Walker. Who also writes for the Church Times blog. Succinct and to the point. More Why it matters. Thursday, 14 July 2011. Evolution of the Berkshire blogosphere continues apace, and to keep up with changes it has become necessary to change the template and redefine the system of blogroll used for listings over at the main RL page. Eventually this will mean a reduction in the quantity of blogs listed there, but this will soon be compensated by the inclusion of topic-based directories to allow for greater specialisation of focus and improved overall quality. Tuesday, 29 September 2009. Spice Up Your Earning Prospects Online! The potential for hyperlocal newsblogs to attract a highly defined audience creates plenty of opportunities for targetted marketing. Jeff Jarvis writes in the Guardian. That this may offer a good economic model for the future of journalism, but Phil Szomszor is cautious about how this translates. I was recently approached offering a voucher for a free burrito (to be redeemed by September 30th, ie tommorrow) by Mission Mexican Grill.

The State of the Political Blogosphere. It's well over a year since the last time I had a look at the state of political blogging in the county, and there have certainly been some changes! A number of stalwart blogs have closed operations, a range of new ones have started up and several have gone through a change of focus, but here is a compilation of the 42 most prominent active individual (ie voluntary) blogs with a primarily political focus, together with their local authority area:.
