Catch up from intermission | Serving at Galmi Hospital
https://caitlinatgalmi.wordpress.com/2014/08/06/catch-up-from-intermission
Serving at Galmi Hospital. A fine WordPress.com site. Catch up from intermission. August 6, 2014. August 24, 2014. This is a blog post from early July – posted late due to internet problems]. Hot season is over. So it’s just about 90 degrees everyday with 85% humidity, instead of 120 degrees, with 85% humidity. Now I walk outside in the morning and think it’s nice and cool – and then see the thermometer at 85. Boston in December is going to be quite a shock I think. Dinner with Dad. (We are inside my...

Serving at Galmi Hospital. A fine WordPress.com site. Thoughts on Feeling Full. August 29, 2014. August 26, 2014. In keeping with the time travel, this is a post I wrote in mid-July, when I was Niamey before going to visit my friend in Morocco. Living in a place with high food instability has really led me to consider my own eating habits in a way that I haven’t really before. Struggling Around the House. August 26, 2014. August 26, 2014. Let’s talk about everyday life shall we? 8221; to remind me to tak...

Serving at Galmi Hospital. A fine WordPress.com site. So Many Things to Do. February 12, 2014. February 13, 2014. The oft-asked question that I haven’t really answered yet is some variant of: What is your job? What exactly are you doing day-to-day? Do you do anything? Well, today is your lucky day! Gargantuan Behemoth of Trepidation Job:. Welcome to the outpatient records room, aka the crux of my next 10 months. The Pretty Big, but Easier because of Increased Clarity on What To Do Job. Just this morning,...
Termites and Bacon | Serving at Galmi Hospital
https://caitlinatgalmi.wordpress.com/2014/03/01/termites-and-bacon
Serving at Galmi Hospital. A fine WordPress.com site. March 1, 2014. Friday (yesterday) was an exciting day that had me at my happiest and most definitely un-happiest. (I’m exaggerating, but not as much as you would think.). I went into work and starting sorting medical records, as per the recent usual. Except in this morning’s new box, I found a whole lotta termites and a few roaches and locusts. FUN. If this pirate pool party isn’t the best party the Galmi pool has ever seen, I will be shocked...

Serving at Galmi Hospital. A fine WordPress.com site. No Ebola in Galmi. August 6, 2014. August 25, 2014. With all the Ebola stuff in the news, I just wanted to offer up some thoughts and prayers. So, let’s pray for all the people in West Africa who are suffering from and exposed to Ebola, as well as the doctors and nurses and health workers who are deliberately exposing themselves to this freaky disease to help others. Love you all,. Catch up from intermission →. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Blog at Word...

L & T: the list gets longer
http://lukeandtab.blogspot.com/2014/07/the-list-gets-longer.html
The Life and Times of Luke &Tab. Sunday, July 6, 2014. The list gets longer. Thursday clinic had quite a few difficult, mysterious, sad, or just plain unusual cases. It started with a woman whose co-wife had bitten off half of her bottom lip. This is the second time I have seen a woman whose bottom lip was bitten off by a co-wife. What I want to know is- how do they get close enough to bite each other's lips during a fight? Seems quite difficult to do. An elderly woman who ten days ago "suddenly" couldn'...

The Life and Times of Luke &Tab. Tuesday, July 21, 2015. Birth story- part 2. Around 10 pm, we walked up the block to the Swedish ER. As soon as I walked in the door, the lady behind the desk asked if I was here for OB and how many weeks .I said 35. Luke went to the bathroom and before he came out we were headed upstairs to the OB triage where after hearing my story they got me right back to a room right away. From there things progressing spontaneously and quickly. Around noon, the nurse decided to chec...

The Life and Times of Luke &Tab. Wednesday, March 25, 2015. The other side of the white coat. I'm used to being the doctor. Now that my practice of medicine has come to a temporary halt, I have found myself thrown full force into the patient's side of things. Let me tell you what you probably already know:. Dealing with insurance is confusing and painful. It can be hard to get an appointment with an obstetrician if you wait until your third trimester (even if you had a good reason). Luke and I made it to...

A lot of blood in the belly.and a large, dark retroperitoneal hematoma behind the right colon going up to the liver and down into the pelvis. The Life and Times of Luke &Tab. Thursday, July 16, 2015. The birth story (nothing like the birth plan) part 1. J is now three months old, and she will finally. Take more than five minute nap without being held. So, now that I have two hands free for a moment, I'll catch you guys up on how she arrived.it was certainly not how we expected! Serving at Galmi Hospital. A fine WordPress.com site. That Time I Ran Church. November 13, 2014. November 14, 2014. A few weeks ago, I ran the missionary church service we do on the compound Sunday evening. I wore a nice outfit and washed (and dried) my hair directly before the service (! And for the full effect, imagine me reading this and pausing every half-sentence to have it translated into French. I apologized to my translator for some of my overly precise word choices. :P. Who else is not that?
