Most passengers boarded the special Friday evening and are ready for an early morning departure from St Louis on the BNSF’s former Frisco mainline to Springfield where we change crews and have an opportunity to disembark. We then continue on to Tulsa where we tie up in Cherokee yard. And because we are parked in the middle of an active yard, we must remain on the train. Day 1: St Louis to Tulsa on the former Frisco. St Louis - Tulsa. Tulsa - Ft Worth. Ft Worth - Hobbs.

April 28 - May 4, 2012. Today is a day off. Some passengers head to Lubbock TX to ride sister railroad, the West Texas and Lubbock, while others tour the local oil fields. John Arbuckle , Rick Moser, Chuck Weinstock, and I rent a car and head to Carlsbad in search of local rail activity as well as a visit to the famed Carlsbad Caverns. After everyone returns to Hobbs, we all gather for the traditional Explorers banquet. Day 4: A day off in Hobbs NM. St Louis - Tulsa. Tulsa - Ft Worth. Ft Worth - Hobbs.

Once we arrive at Union Station, the cars in our train are split. shuffled, and some are turned by an efficient KCT yard crew. The cars will be added to several different trains on the following day.
