Sweets, treats and baked feats from a Canadian kitchen
The Canadian Baker: February 2011
http://canadianbaker.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Sweets, treats and baked feats from a Canadian kitchen. Monday, February 28, 2011. Cinnamon Swirl Breakfast Bread. I bought Bite Me. Ages ago at Indigo. I didn't set out to do this but as I flipped through it I was hooked by the recipes, humour and, most importantly, the bold graphics. If you own this book, you know what I mean. :). This lovely loaf was a snap to throw together and quite satisfying. If you're looking to check out a new book, Bite Me is worth a peek. Recipe: Cinnamon Swirl Breakfast Bread.
The Canadian Baker: Whole Wheat Peanut Butter Cookies
http://canadianbaker.blogspot.com/2011/12/whole-wheat-peanut-butter-cookies.html
Sweets, treats and baked feats from a Canadian kitchen. Monday, December 12, 2011. Whole Wheat Peanut Butter Cookies. Peanut butter cookies are one of my favourite cookies. They're easy, fast and always taste delicious. Add some chocolate chips and they become out of this world. This recipe completely uses whole wheat flour. Sometimes too much whole wheat can make baked goods heavy and loose its light texture. In these cookies there is no fear of that - no one will know! Whole Wheat Peanut Butter Cookies.
The Canadian Baker: Gingerbread Men
http://canadianbaker.blogspot.com/2011/12/gingerbread-men.html
Sweets, treats and baked feats from a Canadian kitchen. Saturday, December 24, 2011. Making your own gingerbread is rewarding and simple to do. It's most likely better than anything you could buy at your local coffee shop or grocery. You can bake to your desired doneness - softer for dunking but firm enough to hold whatever shape you make. Yummy! Wishing everyone a safe and happy Holiday Season! 1 cup granulated sugar. 1/2 cup solid vegetable shortening, melted. 1 1/2 tsp baking soda. Let your cookies co...

Sweets, treats and baked feats from a Canadian kitchen. Monday, February 06, 2012. Gluten Free Chocolate Glitter Cookies. These glitter cookies were my first attempt at GF baking. These little nuggets are made with ground almonds and bake up to be tasty, chewy, brownie-like cookies. Everyone loved them and they were gone almost instantly. Give them a try - you won't miss the wheat. :). Gluten Free Chocolate Glitter Cookies. 6 oz (170 g) bittersweet chocolate, chopped. 3 tbsp (45 mL) butter. Roll dough by...

Andy, Alicia, Dodger & Bronx: March 2014
http://andynalicia.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Andy, Alicia, Dodger and Bronx. Saturday, March 22, 2014. If there is something that could maybe possibly hit him in the head, he will without a doubt hit it! It popped it back open, but not bad enough to have to stitch it up again. Seriously, I'm considering getting him a helmet or a hard hat to wear permanently! Saturday, March 15, 2014. Stihl at 9 months old (and older). Here are a few things about our special little Stihly Boy:. Started sitting up on August 28th. Started army crawling on September 3rd.

Satiating the mind and body gastronomically! Monday, 28 January 2008. Daring Bakers Jan 2008: Lemon Meringue Pie. An Australian island south-east of mainland Australia. I've been here with Quikong for over a week now. Lots of outdoor adventures, enjoying the fresh produce and relaxation. No internet, TV or mobile for most of our trip. It's been really refreshing. I'll write more about this wonderful place in my next post. I made a "standard" pie for the challenge (very un-daring. I had to work very quick...

The Irreverent Cook: February 2009
http://theirreverentcook.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
Saturday, February 28, 2009. February Daring Baker's Challenge. First time baking flourless chocolate cake, and I paired it with a Ginger-Honey ice cream [adapted from The Kitchen Sink's. Recipe], made by hand =). Frankly speaking, while the cake wasn't bad, I still prefer flour (? Cakes The usual chocolate cakes have a more robust feel and taste to it that a flourless cake lacks. Also, they achieve greater heights and is fluffy-er, which I love. Preparation Time: 20 minutes. 16 ounces (1 pound) (454 gra...

http://theirreverentcook.blogspot.com/2009/05/vanilla-poached-pear-crumble.html
Sunday, May 10, 2009. Vanilla Poached Pear Crumble. I am leaving with my sister for a 2 week backpacking trip in Borneo this coming Tuesday, and I decided it would be in bad form to leave my readers with my last post. I don't want to be [even more] responsible for spewing forth more anger and violence into an already crazy world. So I decided to leave you with this. Vanilla-y, crumbly, sweet, gooey pear crumble. Vanilla Poached Pear Crumble. Drain pears and leave open to dry out as much as possible.

The Irreverent Cook: Apple Crumble Pie
http://theirreverentcook.blogspot.com/2008/02/apple-crumble-pie.html
Sunday, February 24, 2008. The long awaited midterm breaks are finally here, and I have to say I have never looked forward to a break as much as I have this semester, which has been hell so far. So, naturally, first thing I did was to whip out my rolling pin and bake a pie. Today, I decided to do something a little different with the pie crust, and make a crumble crust instead. I. Few tablespoons of ice water. Sugar or salt, optional. Handful of almonds or any nuts. 10 green/granny smith apples. There yo...

The Irreverent Cook: April 2009
http://theirreverentcook.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
Tuesday, April 28, 2009. April Daring Baker's Challenge. Today's your lucky day, dear readers, because I have 3 more papers snapping at my ass, and not enough time, so you get to see many delicious photos without having to sieve through [much of] my ramblings and rants. I kept it simple, as my body demanded no nonsense delivery of fats and chocolate to my fried brain cells. There's a walnut-digestive base, which is simply out-of-this-world, REALLY. Thank you, Jenny. Links to this post. I dislike eating w...

The Irreverent Cook: Checkin' in
http://theirreverentcook.blogspot.com/2009/06/checkin-in.html
Sunday, June 7, 2009. I'm back from Borneo in one piece, and I have been baking, just not bloggin about it, so, sorry about that =P I'm enjoying, very much, my standard 'slacking' phase of my holidays, where I spend 70% of my days in bed, sleeping/reading/listening to music. Will update when I get over this phase! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I'm from sunny Singapore, and I'm finally old enough to vote! View my complete profile. A little side note on my cooking style. Funny quote of the day! From ...
