Little Sealed Packages: Whitby last - 'Pirates'
http://h-little-sealed-packages.blogspot.com/2013/09/whitby-last-pirates.html
Monday, 9 September 2013. Whitby last - 'Pirates'. Obviously powered by diesel engine and definitely built for the tourist trade, this pirate ship still made quite a sight chugging up the Esk. Sweeping round in front of the lifeboat and pulling up at the pier. Though the sailor on lookout seemed less than impressed! 9 September 2013 at 22:58. I wondered if this was a tour boat but didnt pay close enough attention to the detail to realize its a pirate tour boat! 10 September 2013 at 10:25. 10 September 20...

Who correctly identified caterpillar eggs. Also well done to everyone who mentioned eggs, close but not quite close enough! Thursday, 5 May 2011. Chalk Arch at Selwicks Bay. I love to explore the wild lonely places of the U.K. English Wilderness. Is my attempt to record some of the places I discover.

Sunday, 27 March 2011. Formations in Gough's Cave. Gough's Cave is one of the show caves in Cheddar Gorge, Somerset. The cave was originally know as Sand Hole. A retired local, Richard Cox Gough, spent 8 years excavating the cave before discovering Saint Paul's Chamber and opening it to the public. In 1903 a human skeleton was discovered just inside the entrance, buried beneath 9000 years of debris. Cheddar Man. Sunday, 20 March 2011. View on Google Maps. Oh Yes I Did! See a New Plant). English Wilderness Photo Archive | November 2011
http://englishwilderness.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 2 November 2011. At the weekend we visited Chatsworth House in Derbyshire and walked the gardens and woodland trail. The autumn leaves looked quite spectacular, particularly the red maple. :-). The berries of the yew tree look unusual. The seed is formed first then the red flesh grows around the seed, leaving an opening at one end. The seeds are poisonous, as are most parts of the yew tree. I love to explore the wild lonely places of the U.K. English Wilderness. Oh Yes I Did! See a New Plant).

Spur Gears / Cogs | English Wilderness
http://englishwilderness.blogspot.com/2012/08/spur-gears-cogs.html
Thursday, 2 August 2012. Spur Gears / Cogs. While looking at your photos, I was impressed. They caught me at a glimpse. Everything looked so familiar. Yet I thought, it couldnt be so because of the distance between us. Meanwhile your pictures continued to attract - When I have grasped the secret of the above contradiction the initial charm doubled - you portray not some things bu the inner world! And Your photography testifies for human oneness. Tomas Karkalas. Tuesday, August 28, 2012 2:05:00 pm. Archae...

Snowflakes | English Wilderness
http://englishwilderness.blogspot.com/2012/02/snowflake.html
Friday, 3 February 2012. This morning we had the first decent snow of winter and the first chance to take photos of individual snowflakes. Here's the best attempt so far. The trick is to pick out a snowflake with the tip of a knife and move it a cold black surface. :-). The first was taken on matt black plastic. Photo 2 and 3 used black paper. I'm still looking for a less reflective background and a better way to control the light. Friday, February 03, 2012 5:54:00 pm. Friday, February 03, 2012 6:12:00 pm.

Thursday, 28 April 2011. While walking around a local lake I spotted a mute swan on her nest. I snapped a photo before taking a detour to avoid getting too close :-). Photo Labels: cygnus olor. Sunday, 24 April 2011. Caldey Island is just off the Pembrokeshire coast where the Bristol Channel meets the Celtic Sea. The Pembrokeshire coastline is visible on the horizon. Friday, 25 February 2011. A Walk in the Forest. A few days ago we went for a late afternoon walk through the woods at Sandringham. It's quite a trek through the forest so we only explored a small distance before the sun went down :-). Tuesday, 8 February 2011. The crescent moon seems clear tonight so I couldn't resist taking a few pictures. The moon didn't turn out too bad although I didn't have much luck with Jupiter :-(. I love to explore the wild lonely places of the U.K. English Wilderness.

The island is home to the medieval ruins of Saint Henry the Dane's hermitage which have been incorporated into the Victorian lighthouse. Monday, 4 July 2011. Hobthrush: Saint Cuthbert's Isle. Warrendale Knotts Cave | English Wilderness
http://englishwilderness.blogspot.com/2011/10/warrendale-knotts-cave.html
Monday, 17 October 2011. Warrendale Dale Knotts Cave is hidden on Warrendale Knotts 60m above the Settle to Attermire footpath. The cave isn't the easiest to find, located behind a limestone block and a patch of nettles. There are approx 20m of passage, all crawling :-(. Looks like a great place to explore, both above and under the earth. Monday, October 17, 2011 11:34:00 pm. It looks a great place to explore above ground :). Tuesday, October 18, 2011 2:04:00 pm.
