The Sturgeon Point History Project. Wednesday, 22 May 2013. Bugle Call: John "Doc" Savage. It is with sadness that I report the passing of John "Doc" Savage. He was a tour de force, with and amazing capacity for life, that had been slowly silenced by Alzheimer's. John Savage on Lake Avenue, 1928. John was "out" at a point in time when many were still fearful of community reaction. He paved a road of tolerance for younger generations. As a young man.. Joe Rivard and John Savage. Doc had the opportunity t...

The Sturgeon Point History Project. Tuesday, 29 May 2012. It was a gorgeous day with wonderful winds that make you wish a regatta was being held today. Sailing on Sturgeon Lake, 1962. A reminder that for the Canada Day display, we are looking for pictures of Sturgeon Pointers on the the water - sailing, canoeing, waterskiing, bobbing with noodles, regattas at home and away, picnics at Third Landing, having fun on docks and in boat houses. The Sturgeon Point History Project: January 2013
http://stpthistoryproject.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
The Sturgeon Point History Project. Sunday, 13 January 2013. It is with regret. It is with regret that I advise that I will be stepping down from my role as Coordinator of The Sturgeon Point History Project. For all the reasons you can imagine, as my family is no longer resident in the village, my ability to manage the position has become unworkable. The History Project is not static. It should grow and change and new volunteers, bringing new ideas and direction, are needed to keep it moving forward.

The Sturgeon Point History Project: June 2012

The Sturgeon Point History Project. Saturday, 23 June 2012. The Sturgeon Point History Project would like to thank the Brown family for the generous donation of their family's sailing pennants. Dating from about 1911 through the early 1930s, these cotton and wool flags show the evolution of the Lindsay Canoe Club's squashed frog. While some of these pennants are quite fragile, we will be able to display a number of them at the Canada Day heritage display. The Sturgeon Point History Project. The Sturgeon ...

Tuesday, 18 March 2014. Well if spring is going to take it's time getting here, I can at least change up the header photo on the page! This is from a trip last May through the west central area of Temagami. A small chute somewhere on Pilgrim Creek, in the Solace Wildlands, one of the last roadless and virgin areas left in the Temagami canoe area. Canoedog - Sid Bredin. Monday, 3 March 2014. canoedog: The Old Canoe
http://www.canoedog.ca/2014/04/the-old-canoe.html
Tuesday, 8 April 2014. My seams gape wide so I’m tossed aside. To rot on a lonely shore. While the leaves and mould like a shroud enfold,. For the last of my trails are o’er;. But I float in dreams on Northland streams. That never again I’ll see,. As I lie on the marge of the old portage. With grief for company. When the sunset gilds the timbered hills. That guard Timagami,. And the moonbeams play on far James Bay. By the brink of the frozen sea,. In phantom guise my Spirit flies. On the Lady Evelyn,.
