Priest. Canonist. Geek. May 2, 2013. Then I met Rick Elias. You may not have heard of him, but he was a founding member of the Ragamuffin Band. And his most known song is “ My Deliverer. 8221; from the soundtrack of the Prince of Egypt which was written by his good friend Rich Mullins. I met Rick at a parish performance in Midland and he sang a song that brought tears to my eyes and made a new fan all in one song. The Prayers of the Saints. So, what Catholic music do you listen to? Priest. Canonist. Geek. October 25, 2012. Today a received a card from one of the young women I have had the pleasure to work with in youth ministry asking me to celebrate her quinceanera. I was so happy to see the formality with which she requested my participation in her special day. As a child, and truly even as an adult, I walk pass the mailbox with a sense of excitement. Will there be something there for me today? Perhaps it’s time to look into getting a penpal…. Back in the game. September 9, 2012.

Priest. Canonist. Geek. Monthly Archives: October 2012. October 27, 2012. As a boy I spent many a weekend with my grandparents. I credit this fact to the survival of both myself and my brother beyond our formative years. Having two overly rambunctious boys surely put my mother to the test, and my grandparents God rest their souls were always happy to have us stay overnight (or so they said while in earshot! Has been known to awake each day (yes even on Saturdays)! October 25, 2012. Today a received a car...

Priest. Canonist. Geek. On swimming, silence, and solitude. February 1, 2013. I’ve seen advertisements for iPods that are waterproof. While there is a temptation to get a new gadget, ultimately I don’t think I want it. I don’t need something else cluttering up my time there. Though I may have to get a lap counter. LOL. Priest. Canonist. Geek. Monthly Archives: February 2013. February 26, 2013. So I visited a parish recently. As I entered the quiet of the church, I went as I often do to bless myself at the Holy Water font. I yanked my hand back in horror… in the font was a small cactus! Upon further examination I determined that it was in fact a fake cactus with fake thorns, but nonetheless I got a little hot under the collar. As I looked around I saw that the baptismal font was covered with a funeral pall! For a great ...

Spirit and Law Love and Justice. Canon Law on the Internet. By Aldean Hendrickson, JCL. The case of the “ Kennedy annulment. 8221; came up in class one day during my first year of canon law studies, and it started quite an extensive conversation. However, no one present had read the book written by the respondent in the case, so I took it upon myself to tackle it. I am so very glad I did. The book in question is. Posted in Canon Law. Benedict XVI – A Prairie Canonist

Spirit and Law Love and Justice. Canon Law on the Internet. By Aldean Hendrickson, JCL. In These Final Days. This morning at Mass I heard the celebrant utter, for the last time that I will hear, the prayer for Benedict our Pope. In roughly forty-eight hours the 265th Pontificate will come to a scheduled end, something barely thinkable until Benedict XVI announced his resignation a few weeks ago. I repeatedly think back to the emotions I felt in April 2005. How excited I was to hear those words! There are...
