http://kangalu.blogspot.com/2012/02/seven-quick-takes-friday-4.html
A Tale of Two Needles. Friday, February 10, 2012. Seven Quick Takes Friday – 4. Yes, I missed two weeks. No, I don’t really have an excuse, but I’m going to try to justify it anyway. Over the last weekend in January, our daughter was in her high school’s production of “Les Miserables”. She was Little Cosette. Either a) I need to work on my vocabulary or b) I’ve been watching too much of Barney on “How I Met Your Mother”. Silly streaming Netflix! I’m still hooked on “ Downton Abbey. 8221;, and I’m n...

Priest. Canonist. Geek. May 2, 2013. Then I met Rick Elias. You may not have heard of him, but he was a founding member of the Ragamuffin Band. And his most known song is “ My Deliverer. 8221; from the soundtrack of the Prince of Egypt which was written by his good friend Rich Mullins. I met Rick at a parish performance in Midland and he sang a song that brought tears to my eyes and made a new fan all in one song. The Prayers of the Saints. So, what Catholic music do you listen to? I was so happy to see the formality with which she requested my participation in her special day. As a child, and truly even as an adult, I walk pass the mailbox with a sense of excitement. Will there be something there for me today? Perhaps it’s time to look into getting a penpal…. Back in the game. September 9, 2012.

Priest. Canonist. Geek. Monthly Archives: October 2012. October 27, 2012. As a boy I spent many a weekend with my grandparents. I credit this fact to the survival of both myself and my brother beyond our formative years. Having two overly rambunctious boys surely put my mother to the test, and my grandparents God rest their souls were always happy to have us stay overnight (or so they said while in earshot! Has been known to awake each day (yes even on Saturdays)! October 25, 2012. Today a received a car...

A New Testament Student: April 2009

A New Testament Student. Και τοις αναγινωσκουσιν ο κυριοσ σωση παντας υμας αδελφοι αμην αμην και αμην. Monday, April 27, 2009. Preserving idioms in translation. Is difficult. I had to translate some lines in Sophocles'. And write a short commentary. Kreon, the newly-crowned tyrannical king, states that:. Οὐδὲν γὰρ ἀνθρώποισιν οἷον ἄργυρος κακὸν νόμισμ' ἔβλαστε. The play on words here is difficult to keep in translation. Kreon is making a pun on νόμισμα and I'm not quite sure how to maintain it. The quest...
