Canvey Rotary Raft Race. Sunday 21st June 2015. The Rotary Club of Canvey are organising their very first Charity Raft Race at Thorney Bay beach and we are inviting organisations and Companies to build their .own raft for a race across the bay. Entry will be £30-00 per raft and any money raised from individual sponsorship of the raft will be the nominated charity of the raft. Rotary will add prize money of £250 to the winners. The year 2014 will be 100 years since the outbreak of WWI. Canvey then still had a small community although it was growing fast. Nineteen Canvey Islanders died and their names are on the war memorial. Many more were affected by the war and in this section we will be adding as many stories from that time that we can find. History of the Church in Canvey Island. Two celebrations were held by the Church of England in Canvey Island during 2010. On Friday 10th December 2010, the Island celebrated the 50th anniversary of the building of St Nicholas' Church and on November 5th 2010, the 100th anniversary of a church on the site of St Anne's Church. How this website started. Friends of Concord Beach. Get Involved with the FOCB. Hi folks. Sorry the website has been dormant for so long. I last edited it when we had six benches! Well, we now have installed 52 benches on the lower path and two on the top path. We have also installed the shower. All this has taken an enormous amount of my time and I sacrificed the website. However, we are up and running with it again so look forward to new things in the not too distant future.
