Did Somebody Say “Scallops”? | farm to fork (DC)
https://farmtoforkdc.wordpress.com/2012/02/19/did-somebody-say-scallops
A little bit of this and a dash of that…. Farm to fork (DC). Did Somebody Say “Scallops”? One of the best things about living on Capitol Hill is having easy access to Eastern Market. I find myself there at least once per weekend to check out the seasonal produce and wander through the flea market. But did you know? Scallops. Big ol’ sea scallops, to be exact. Wrapped in thick cut bacon. Be still my heart. Check out the recipe below, adapted from the one and only Emeril Lagasse. Bam! 1 quart heavy cream.

Super Bowl ‘Skins | farm to fork (DC)

A little bit of this and a dash of that…. Farm to fork (DC). Super Bowl ‘Skins. So, yesterday was kind of a big deal for football fans. Maybe you heard about it? Or maybe you only made it though the game to catch the first episode of The Voice, season two? I admit it, guilty as charged…. But even if you don’t really care which team wins big, the Super Bowl is always a good excuse to enjoy some good old-fashioned party food of the greasy, potato-ey, cheese-y variety. As found in the. 4 slices of bacon.

And Then There Was Red Velvet Cake… | farm to fork (DC)
https://farmtoforkdc.wordpress.com/2012/02/25/and-then-there-was-red-velvet-cake
A little bit of this and a dash of that…. Farm to fork (DC). And Then There Was Red Velvet Cake…. So, there is something that you should know about me. Throughout my baking career, I have made dozens of biscuits, cookies of all kinds, and just about every dessert under the sun. I make a mean cinnamon roll. One time I made a particularly delicious pumpkin caramel apple pie (! But up until last week, I had never made a red velvet cake of my very own. I mean, if I can do it, so can you. About half of one of...

A little bit of this and a dash of that…. Farm to fork (DC). What I Did On My Spring Break: Or, A Few Delicious Things I Ate At Disney World. Last week I had the unbelievable good fortune of being sent to Orlando for work. (Coincidentally, my trip just happened to fall during GWU’s spring break week.). After the conference was over, I spent a couple of extra days exploring Disney World for the first time. I’m a California girl, so Disney Land I understand. But Disney World? But oh man they are good.

Something Old and Something New On Capitol Hill | farm to fork (DC)

A little bit of this and a dash of that…. Farm to fork (DC). Something Old and Something New On Capitol Hill. The great thing about living on Capitol Hill is that there is no shortage of food options. Today, I wanted to share a couple of my old and new favorite food establishments located in my neck of the woods. First, meet Hunan Dynasty. If you live near Capitol Hill and haven’t tried Hunan yet, I would suggest the sushi (California roll is just $4.50! The spider roll never disappoints! You can sample ...

Peeps Take The Cake | farm to fork (DC)
https://farmtoforkdc.wordpress.com/2012/04/07/peeps-take-the-cake
A little bit of this and a dash of that…. Farm to fork (DC). Peeps Take The Cake. I will be spending Easter with my cousins and their kids (ages 15, 13, 7, 6, and 1) in Baltimore. Being the good holiday guest that I am, my first inclination was to whip up a fun, family-friendly dessert for the occasion. Now, back home in California, the tradition is to make a quote-on-quote “bunny cake” to bring to the family Easter celebration. I have made such a cake for as long as I can remember. To help you visualize:.

A New Take On “America Eats” | farm to fork (DC)
https://farmtoforkdc.wordpress.com/2012/03/03/a-new-take-on-america-eats
A little bit of this and a dash of that…. Farm to fork (DC). A New Take On “America Eats”. Last weekend, I had my first “Jose Andres”. It was a cold, dreary Saturday. I was juuuust about to settle in for a few chapters of The Hunger Games (guilty pleasure) when suddenly, I heard brunch calling my name. And that’s a call that you just can’t refuse, am I wrong? Alright, already, back to the food. The restaurant itself is divided into four floors set up around a winding staircase. The decor includes fam...

DC Eats Aficianado: Famoso
http://dceatsaficionado.blogspot.com/2009/04/famosa.html
April 27, 2009. UPDATE: This venue is now CLOSED and has been replaced by Mi Cocina. Location: Chevy Chase/Friendship Heights. Nearest Metro: Redline Friendship Heights. Website: http:/ www.famosorestaurant.com/. Now onto the juicy good stuff, the food! Nice write up. I've heard good things about Famoso but haven't visited yet. A co-worker told me they do a fun party trick with risotto by mixing it in a hollowed out parmesan cheese. Sounds awesomely decadant. April 28, 2009 at 9:51 PM. Brunch and the city.

erin's kitchen: Christmas Cookie Challenge: Day 2, Peppermint Splodges
http://erinskitchen.blogspot.com/2011/12/christmas-cookie-challenge-day-2.html
Friday, December 02, 2011. Christmas Cookie Challenge: Day 2, Peppermint Splodges. I should've known better. On what planet would baking a peppermint patty inside chocolate cookie dough at 350 for 15 minutes turn out like this, Rachael Ray's purported Double Chocolate Cookies with a Peppermint Surprise. Because in a month of cookies, that's just what I need. Some ice cream. Posted by Erin S. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Soups, Salads and Veggies. Eat Drink One Woman.
