Sunday, February 15, 2015. LEEDS ARTISTS COMBINE TO REFLECT EASTER JOURNEY. Artists from Leeds’ thriving art scene are joining with St Edmunds Church, Roundhay in April 2015 for a unique exhibition of reflections on the Easter journey. 8216;Art seeks to visualise the unimaginable. Since the Middle Ages, the Stations of the Cross have helped believers imagine how one man confronted agony, despair and the finality of death to redeem broken humanity. I am thrilled and fearful to follow great artists...8216;...

Wednesday, January 28, 2015. Introducing. Phill Hopkins. Exhibition curator Si Smith chats with artist Phill Hopkins about soft landings, unexpected positivity, and the word 'lamentation'. Hi Phill, can you tell us a bit about yourself? That studio of yours is a glorious place, I get the feeling that a sense of place to create in is quite important to you and your work. Perhaps I need a calm place so that the frenetic contents of my head can find a soft place to land. I have taken many photographs in cent...

st edmund's stations: Left Bank Leeds
http://stedmundsstations.blogspot.com/2015/05/left-bank-leeds.html
Monday, May 4, 2015. Several times already during the exhibition's run folk have commented upon how well the show is lit, and we've been asked where we sourced our lights from. They're on loan from Left Bank. A beautiful arts and events venue on the Cardigan Road in Burley, and we are very grateful to the folks there for letting us borrow them :-). If you've never been there before, we'd recommend that you have a browse of their website - http:/ leftbankleeds.org.uk/. And take in one of their events.

Monday, April 27, 2015. Jon Vogler on his piece for Station 11 - 'Christ is nailed to the cross'. When I was small I had a crucifix – a cross about six inches long of some dark wood with a figure cast in some silver metal. I didn’t think much about it – I certainly didn’t reflect on the hideous act it depicted. It was just one of the things I had, like the box of wooden bricks and the furry black cat stuffed with straw. One of the wonderful features of this exhibition, besides. Painted five hundred years...

http://stedmundsstations.blogspot.com/2015/04/introducing-carla-moss.html
Sunday, April 19, 2015. Introducing. Carla Moss. Hi Carla, I was talking to someone about your work recently, and they said that, considering that it's about the nature of space and time, it's really accessible and engaging. Hi Si, thanks! I’m sure it's accessible to some, but not to others - even if we all live within time and space. I’ve really enjoyed making the piece for the Stations, getting my hands dirty with clay is something I’ve not done in a long time. But it’s not just that! As a book it also...

All quiet… – p a u l h u r l e y
https://paulhurley.org/2013/05/02/all-quiet
May 2, 2013. Time is such a curious thing. Just yesterday I was trying to remember performances of mine from the last four years, for a new book work I’m making. Revisiting documentation and digging through memories is for me an uncanny experience. Punctuation, echoes, discrepancies, gaps. I’ve also been revisiting an old collaboration with Kathe Izzo, and dicussing some possible new collaborations – our Public Love Project. In March, last month presenting at the I’m not sitting at the front. I’m s...
