Marianist Adventures in Rome: November 2014
http://marianistadventures.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Marianist Adventures in Rome. Saturday, November 1, 2014. I have always liked All Saints Day. I'm not really sure why, but it's one of my favorites. Maybe it's because by November 1, autumn (my favorite season) is in full swing. Or here in Rome, when the celebration is not on a Saturday, we don't have school (boo for this year.) Or maybe I just like the Saints (which isn't a bad thing in itself! But, I always look forward to the day. So, what do we celebrate today? St Ali and friends. Bro Bob Jones, SM.

Marianist Adventures in Rome: June 2015
http://marianistadventures.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Marianist Adventures in Rome. Monday, June 22, 2015. Q: What do I have in common with Pope Francis? A: We both spent a day in Torino (that's Turin for you Americani) last week. After I finished my exams, I took a little adventure to northern Italy (more on that later), and on my way home I spent a night in Torino. Mainly, I went to see the Shroud of Turin, what some believe is the burial cloth of Jesus. I won't weigh in on its authenticity, but there were two things that made an impression on me. Sarcoph...

Marianist Adventures in Rome: October 2013
http://marianistadventures.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
Marianist Adventures in Rome. Sunday, October 27, 2013. Today in St. Peter's Square, Pope Francis celebrated mass for "The Day of the Family." Now, in all transparency, I did not go. I heard that they were expecting 150,000 people and I then heard that more than 200,000 actually attended. I'm still recovering from all the people during the Pope's election! However, thanks to the internet, we can all read his homily. The Holy Family at Sagrada Familia in Barcelona. The front of the church at night. While ...

Marianist Adventures in Rome. Sunday, November 17, 2013. How many priests does it take to dress a bishop? How many priests does it take to dress a Bishop? Keep reading for the answer). It's funny how, in one weekend, many unrelated events can come together to you teach a lesson. Not really a picture of the talk, but it was near Santa Maria in Trastevere. So, here's where we were. Due: Saturday morning, we celebrated a festive mass and lunch here in our house for the culmination of a weeklong conference f...

http://marianistadventures.blogspot.com/2015/04/good-friday-of-passion-of-lord.html
Marianist Adventures in Rome. Friday, April 3, 2015. Good Friday of the Passion of the Lord. Yesterday, we began the celebration of the great Paschal Triduum - the celebration of the most central mysteries of our Christian faith. The Passion, death and resurrection of Christ. We follow with Jesus from the Last Supper to the Garden of Gethsemane. We journey the road to Calvary and wait at the sealed tomb. We greet the new morning of Resurrection and ponder the empty grave. Blessed Triduum, my friends.

Marianist Adventures in Rome. Wednesday, September 18, 2013. Dani - Marianist, Priest, Rapper. Here's the second installment of my Spain adventures. The real reason for going to Valencia, Spain, was to be present at the Ordination of one of our Brother Seminarians - Dani. I lived with Dani this past year in Rome, but had met him a few years ago when he was in Dayton studying English. From being with him in Dayton, I learned three things about him:. With Fr. Dani. Marianist Adventures in Rome: Firenze!
http://marianistadventures.blogspot.com/2015/04/last-week-before-classes-resumed-after.html
Marianist Adventures in Rome. Friday, April 17, 2015. Last week, before classes resumed after our Easter break, the community took a "gita" (trip) to explore Firenze (that's Florence for most of the readers of this blog.) What a beautiful city! It's not as chaotic as Rome, but there seems to be just as many tourists. Florence was (and still is) at the heart of Italian art, and so we went to several museums, taking in the Florentine scene. Here's some of the highlights. Enjoy! Close up of Mary. The tomb o...

Marianist Adventures in Rome. Wednesday, September 17, 2014. Blessed Martyrs of Ciudad Real. St Matthew speaks of a time of great trial. But he also says that the Holy Spirit will come to the hearer's aid in how they should speak and act (cf Mt 10:19-20). It is told that just before Blessed Fidel was shot, he cried out, "Long live Christ the King! Today, our Marianist communities also remember Bro. Miguel Angel Quiroga. http://marianistadventures.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
Marianist Adventures in Rome. Tuesday, December 24, 2013. 8220;It’s about the love.”. MERRY CHRISTMAS, or as we say in Italy, BUON NATALE! Yesterday I walked around our house and counted 12 nativity scenes. Now, remember, our house is pretty big. And we’re religious folks. But, still, Twelve! And this doesn’t include individual rooms and ones that I probably missed. And half of these were on one floor alone! Last year, I traveled to Greccio which is sort of between Rome and Assisi. Many couldn’t re...
