Mission - Cashel Forest Project. In 1996, the Royal Scottish Forestry Society decided it would create a native working Scottish forest. With help from the Millennium Forest for Scotland Trust, it bought Cashel Farm, a 3000 acre hill farm on the eastern side of Loch Lomond. The property rises from shore level to 580 metres, and therefore can represent most of the different woodland types which are native to Scotland following the last ice age. On the right you can see pictures of Cashel from the year 2004.

Shieling - Cashel Forest Project. A Shieling was a temporary dwelling, usually for women and children, who took their livestock into the hills to graze in the summer. When we built our shieling, we copied the original builders and only used materials which are found close to hand. The 'cruck' timbers, the large branches of oak and alder which support the roof, were cut in the forest close to the Cashel buildings. A good place to take the weight of your feet. Monday, September 16, 2013. California Road Trip: July 22, 2013 to July 29, 2013. After the hula festival, we spent some time adventuring in California. First stop: the Jelly Belly factory. All tour participants must wear the hat, but we also got some free jelly beans, so it was worth it. We headed east into the mountains to Arnold to visit with family. Amy was probably around Cashel's age the last time we visited, so it was lots of fun to be there and see everyone. Getting some lessons from Uncle Robb.
