Sewing, child taming, getting it done. Finally, a finish. October 16, 2013. So do you remember studying Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs in school? Basically, the gist of it is that you take care of your most basic needs before you get all fancy with your time. Well, it turns out that in the middle of a gigantic move with two crazy kids running around, I do not give a crap about quilting or blogging! This one was so hard to get done, and not because it was at all difficult– it was just boring! You are comment...

Sewing, child taming, getting it done. Everybody loves an upgrade…. May 1, 2013. So my youngest goes to a preschool that has had the same Very Hungry Caterpillar activity for like 15 years. Basically, you have a caterpillar, and you make it go through all the food in the book. It’s a cute idea, but THIS was their caterpillar. Seriously people– a dirty old gym sock with a face drawn on it. And that brown circle? The food was really super fun to make. First, the fruits. I free motioned the seeds on...Oddly...

Fun with half square triangles… | pukanunu

Sewing, child taming, getting it done. Fun with half square triangles…. December 1, 2013. Way back in September, I took a class at Sewing Summit taught by the fabulous Amy Smart. Where we learned a super fast way to make half square triangle blocks. (Long story short: stack two squares, draw a diagonal down the middle, sew a quarter inch away on each side, then cut on the diagonal line, and voila, two half square triangle blocks, done! I tried a few different layouts…. Oh, go ahead. Behold, the funk.

Sawyer Stars Quilt | pukanunu

Sewing, child taming, getting it done. April 10, 2013. Finally finished this baby quilt! And then photographed it in diminishing light! Man, I am SO bad at blog photography! The prints on this one are pretty subtle, especially for me. (I have no restraint when it comes to crazy tacky prints.). In between the lines. Seriously, I am SO bad at this! The backing is this cool pixilated brights print by Kaufman– I love it against the sort of serious looking top. Everybody loves an upgrade… →. I Iove this quilt!
