The idea originated with an art teacher, currently living in Asheville, who wanted to educate her students concerning hunger in our world. Her students started the first Empty Bowls Project and the efforts have spread throughout the United States. Many organizations sponsor an event and use the donations from the event to help alleviate hunger in their communities. All proceeds will be donated to The Hickory Soup Kitchen and The Corner Table in Newton.

May 1 – Rich Haag with the Catawba River District came to visit us on May 1 to see our composting efforts, learn about a special experiment we are doing and to take photos and video. Saturday, March 23, 2013. Filming was a big success! March 23 – We now have a challenge video! Our team spent an hour filming last week to create an introduction for our project, Composting.
