Stories and poems by catbird. December 12, 2013. December 11, 2013. In the orange ozone of blush desert. Among slant-faced grasshoppers and lizards,. I’m dandelion disenchantment and. A hymn flickering to firefly heaven. I’m a diamond girl in a salad bowl,. A page torn out of a landscape, a song. Lamented. I am blurred nostalgia. I am a chameleon, dreaming change. Catbird Griddle

Fine, fresh, local food from Angelica, New York. Wednesday, May 22, 2013. Locust Blossom Season = Time to Fritter Away. When I was a kid, Sam used to come in one morning each spring with a bucket or basket or flannel shirt brimming with locust blossoms. Locusts bloom suddenly and fleetingly, so fritters were a surprise spring breakfast party. Sweet, subtle locust blossom fritters.
