April 1, 2008 at 7:34 am. I’ve recently found out that another colleague in the Oklahoma Conference is blogging. Michael Bartley. Is the director of the Oklahoma State University Wesley, and is also doing some creative things with a house Church. He was my lead interviewer for my last round of interviews leading up to ordination, and he was gracious and engaging during that process. Of course, if I had failed that interview, he probably wouldn’t be getting a link! Entry filed under: United Methodist.

Archive for December, 2007. Dave Barry has always been a favorite of mine. If you’d like to get a quick hilarious rundown on the events of the past year, go check out his year in review. December 30, 2007 at 7:20 am. Well I don’t know when it happened, but this blog officially has over 10,000 hits. I would have never expected anywhere close to that when I started blogging, unless maybe just three or four of my friends clicked 3,000 times each! December 28, 2007 at 10:08 pm. Moments in Parsonage Life. March 19, 2008 at 6:33 am. I wiggled the thing again, and got it to go off for a few seconds. Thirty minutes later, I’m still wrestling with the thing as it laughs its little mechanical buzzer laugh. So, being the complete non-mechanic that I am, I pulled the stove out, saw the offending buzzer, and mangled the heck out of it with my pliers. Problem solved. Take that non-functioning annoying buzzer! Entry filed under: Pastoral Life. New GBGM General Secretary. Now that you̵...

The Maker's Way: APPRECIATION or DEPRECIATION?
http://themakersway.blogspot.com/2009/11/appreciation-or-depreciation.html
Friday, November 27, 2009. Slowly but surely in these most recent years, I am finally learning the art of appreciation. I want and need to learn to be content with whatever I have. This life secret seems to be found more fully as I turn more of myself over to my Maker and others in love. E of our toys. Can less really be more? Can we really gain our lives by giving them away? Do we find our lives by losing them? And the Apostle Paul who said, "I have learned to be content with whatever I have.". These ar...

Thursday, June 7, 2007. What Are You Reading? Last night I realized I need to update my "currently reading" list. I recently finished Free of Charge. And was wondering what to read next. I thought, hey why don't I go and check out what I'm currently reading on my blog. And there was one book left. Then this morning I thought, why don't I ask for help from the blogosphere. So, what are you reading? Or, what have you recently read that you would highly recommend? Posted by Kevin Watson. By Borg and Crossan.

Friday, June 8, 2007. Derek Webb Is Crooked Deep Down. In some ways Derek Webb's. Music has played all of those roles in my life. Center Aisle and Table for Two from his Caedmon's Call. Days helped me to wrestle with the loneliness that I occasionally wrestled with in college. I have also been known to just turn up the volume and sing along to Daring Daylight Escape and Thankful (also from Caedmon's days). My life looks good i do confess, you can ask anyone. Just don’t ask my real good friends. And then ...

Tuesday, June 5, 2007. What Children Need from Their Parents. I just uploaded the last sermon of the "Family Matters" sermon series to my podcast. This sermon series had some of the most difficult sermons I have ever preached, but I can say that I learned a lot and it was very good for my prayer life! Posted by Kevin Watson.

Monday, June 4, 2007. Restoring Methodism (Part 2). This is a continuation of a previous post. On the book Restoring Methodism. Decision #8 notes the lack of doctrinal consensus in the contemporary UMC. The authors suggest that one helpful way to return to a common doctrinal understanding would be by reminding ourselves of the UMC's Wesleyan foundation. They suggest focusing on the following four elements:. 2 History and Tradition of the Church. 43) In other words, I am sure that Wesley would be appalled...
