jack the model: Preparation
http://jackthemodel.blogspot.com/2010/12/preparation.html
Friday, December 10, 2010. First posted June 3, 2009. Tonight I am modeling in the round for 3 hours in front of between 15 – 25 artists. The session consists of a total of about 50 “gesture” poses lasting between 1 minute to 5 minutes each, so by the end of this evening, depending on how many artists show up, there will be about 1,000 new drawings of me in existence. That’s part of the fun of modeling. The snack is just a granola bar, or a banana, or something similarly small. I usually have it duri...

jack the model: Be Still
http://jackthemodel.blogspot.com/2010/12/be-still.html
Friday, December 10, 2010. One of the main things you need to master when modeling for artists is to be still. Regardless whether the pose is short or long, the more still you remain, the better. I see it as one of the main differences between modeling for drawing, painting, and sculpture versus modeling for photography. When done, move out of your pose SLOWLY. After a pose your body will tell you very clearly which parts you need to stretch out, and which need to be relaxed. Stillness is not alw...Suite...

jack the model: July 2009
http://jackthemodel.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, July 22, 2009. My first nude modeling session. The session went off without a hitch, and since it was my first time out, at the end of the session I asked and a few of the artists allowed me to take photos of their work. I'd like to say thank-you again to them for allowing me to do so. I didn't get the names of them all, so if you are one of the artists, please email me at jackthemodel@gmail.com. So I can give you proper credit, (. Or remove your piece if you would rather I do not post it here.

jack the model: December 2010
http://jackthemodel.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Friday, December 10, 2010. I have recently been modeling more for photographers than other visual artists, so I wanted to point out a key difference in preparation between modeling for artists and modeling for photographers. There are exceptions, where for effect, a photographer may want to see clothing impressions, but that is not usually the case. If you have any doubts, just ask the photographer. Clothes may make the man, but they can ruin the shot. The Peter Read Method. 3rd pose is then right angles...

jack the model: January 2011
http://jackthemodel.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Friday, January 7, 2011. That pretty much sums it up. Local arts groups and schools in the Vancouver lower mainland region are (these days) typically paying $60 - $75 for a three hour session. That works out to $20 - $25 per hour. Based on this chart, that is an appropriate rate for "Anonymous art" modeling. It is also 2 standard deviations from the mean and represents the lowest 2.3% of art model rates paid. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Jackthemodel at gmail dot com. View my complete profile.
