http://bhgullsni.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html

Just as this time last year, the blog has taken a backseat recently to fieldwork for much bigger, darker birds than Black-headed Gulls! Brood of four large Raven chicks in Co. Down. We have more than doubled the number of Raven nests we're monitoring for the NI Raptor Study Group since 2014 and this has taken up much of our time of the past few weeks. Friday, 17 April 2015. Latvian re-sightings are like buses.

http://bhgullsni.blogspot.com/2015/08/colour-ringed-sandwich-terns.html
Northern Ireland Black-headed Gull Study. Gallery - First-winter BHG. Wednesday, 12 August 2015. Things are certainly on the move with migrating birds passing through and gulls returning to their wintering sites. We have had several reports of continental birds already back at Whitehouse Lagoon, Belfast Lough and at Antrim, Lough Neagh. I'll post a short update on the gulls in the next few days. I suspected a couple of them were birds ringed by Ewan Weston in NE Scotland and passed the sightings on.

Northern Ireland Black-headed Gull Study. Gallery - First-winter BHG. Tuesday, 30 December 2014. Yellow 2X5J - First Dublin Med Gull in Portugal. It's not often someone admits to having a "favourite gull", but I am quite fond of Mediterranean Gulls. Perhaps it's because, although they're seen regularly here, they're still a bit of a novelty up here in NI. Move south a bit to Dublin and they're much more common with large flocks often seen at Sandycove Strand. Photos by Nelson Fonseca. It's been a bit hec...
