Eastleigh library

The Eastleigh Library opened in November 2002. The British Army aided us in creating the library. They also paid for re-wiring, damp proofing, made all the shelving, and provided the carpet. The army staff trained the youth of Eastleigh library in all of these skills. When the library building was ready we added the library book stock. This was donated by the British Royal Air force. 4 members of MYSA. Staff were trained in library classification, colourcoding, A- Z, and cataloguing. Loss of some books.

We are still waiting for our new website design to be ready, so we are updating this one to keep things fresh and moving! Since May many things have happened to KidsLibs! Anne had to return briefly to the UK to try to find a donor to bring her back to continue with the work of KLT. Luckily she found AOE corporation, who donated funds to bring her back to Kenya! Anne Moore MBE

Anne is a British children's librarian, who has been living in Kenya since August 1999. Anne qualified with a B.A (Hons) degree in Librarianship and Information Science in 1981, and since then has worked in many places; from Beamish Open air Museum in country Durham, to the Barbican Centre in London, to Hertfordshire and Cambridgshire library services in the UK. In 2004 Anne was awarded an MBE by the Queen and the British Government for her work in both PNG and in Kenya. Stories and poems: adults.

Mathare North library

The library is a MYSA run library, and is sponsored by Sara Lee. Who not only pay the rent on the library building, but also pay for the electricity and refurbishment of the library. More recently they are paying for two staff members, and for another staff member to attend Kenya School of Professional Studies to study for a diploma and certificate in library and information skills. The library unofficially opened in November 2003. The library was at first only one room for children. 3821 total (May 2008).
