a Scrap of Life: July 2012
http://ascrapoflife.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Friday, July 6, 2012. Shortly after arriving here in Saskatchewan, I realized that I was going to really miss being without a sewing machine for the entire summer. So, the hunt was on for a new-to-me vintage machine that was inexpensive and that wouldn't require a lot of work to get up and running. After stalking Kijiji for over a week, the perfect machine finally appeared:. And this weird brownish stain on the machine bed, that almost looks like a kind of flash/burn mark. Hopefully I'll be able to r...

Poetic Rebirth: April 2010
http://poeticrebirth.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html
Ancient words of new wisdom live, breathe. As i am born to become a living poem. Thursday, April 8, 2010. In many churches you can find a plethora of twelve step programs. But in many churches, the one who really needs a twelve step recovery program is the pastor because he has lost sight of what he should be doing and become addicted to marketing cultural relevance, politics, social reform and other substitutes for the real thing." KnitObsession: June 2014
http://knitorpurl.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
The ups and downs of a Knitter obsessed. Is off the needles, blocked and pretty as a picture. Knit in Top Cat Lace, dyed in a very feminine shade of pink. There are more photos and details on my project page on Ravelry. The beads are very subtle and they were fun to add. I will certainly be adding more beading to future projects. Now I'm busy with some more baby knits and more dyeing and of course I'm still fascinated with spinning. I'll post some of those photos in a few days. Links to this post. I don'...

Ancient words of new wisdom live, breathe. As i am born to become a living poem. Thursday, December 24, 2009. On the one hand, Christmas Eve is filled with hope and joy. On the other hand, it's a reminder of the losses over the year. It's bittersweet. It's weird. But, who knows what 2010 holds. Wednesday, December 23, 2009. Tuesday, December 15, 2009. punkconformity: July 2013
http://punkconformity.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Life, history, and the pursuit of knitting. Wednesday, July 24, 2013. I am half a week away from a two-week vacation. Why is it that the week leading up to the vacation is so hard to get through? This weekend I started and finished both Maise Dobbs. By Jacqueline Winspear, and The Ocean at the End of the Lane. By Neil Gaiman. They were both excellent, although I found the narrator of Ocean. Just finished my Debonair Jumper. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Notes on a Scandal: My take on the USOC event.

Life, history, and the pursuit of knitting. Tuesday, June 21, 2011. Book Review: Inferno (2008) by Niven and Pournelle. Inferno (1976, reissued 2008). Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle. This is the second book I’ve read in the last year that uses Dante as a frame-work on which to hang a new story, and while Matthew Pearl’s The Dante Club. Was a fine effort, Inferno. punkconformity: Book Review: Thames: A Biography
http://punkconformity.blogspot.com/2013/08/book-review-thames-biography.html
Life, history, and the pursuit of knitting. Thursday, August 22, 2013. Book Review: Thames: A Biography. Posted in God Save the Queen. I love London. Some might say I am a little obsessed. My first project as a research assistant was to help design a course that tied early novels to the geography and social structures of London. So when Peter Ackroyd uses the city (or in this case, the river Thames) as a backdrop for his wild, outlandish, pet theories, I get a little peeved. Huh As opposed to the numerou...
