Sunday, July 26, 2009. Now in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. So much more awesome than Uzbekistan so far! The main difference however is that people are so much more friendly! We then sat around for another two hours in the boiling heat. We all sat around on the floor of the border post as there were no seats. Sunday, August 16, 2009. Went up into the mountains to go horse trekking, and stayed two nights in this yurt, where the mother and daughter pictured live with the rest of the family. They were so nice! They live in the mountains for the summer and then the city in winter because it gets so cold. Me looking stylish on a horse. I can tell you that the horse trekking we did made pony rides at Denby Stables look a bit tame! Anyway we are in Kazahkstan now and heading out of Almaty this afternoon.

Wednesday, August 26, 2009. Made it to Mongolia. We are in Mongolia! And it's amazing. Only 1% of the land it covers is used for human settlement OR crop cultivation, so we can drive for hours and not see anything at all. It's also much colder than we envisaged, as we planned to be here a few weeks earlier and the winter is moving in. Turns out to be a good thing I brought my ski suit along after all.
