Rebecca's Notes: Independence Day
http://centralasiangirl.blogspot.com/2007/08/independence-day.html
A little bit on my life in Central Asia. Well I got an unexpected holiday today! It's independence day here, and I forgot about it! So it means that I have the apartment to myself since my roommates left, and I have generally enjoyed a slower paced day! It has now been 2 weeks since I arrived. It's hard to imagine that a short three weeks ago I was still in America! Russian: I wasn't sure how it would go getting back into daily Russian, but it has been fine.I've forgotten a few words but they come ba...

A little bit on my life in Central Asia. People are probably wondering what happened to me, it's been so long since I posted or even e-mailed people.I myself feel like I disappeared.so what is fall like in Bishkek? August into the beginning of September are usually so slow that you feel like you are going to die, and then everything happens at once and you don't know what end is up! My current feeling on life is that I love what I'm doing! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.

Rebecca's Notes: March 2008

A little bit on my life in Central Asia. First I have a car to run around in to do shopping and I don’t have ride on the marshrutkas! Second I can do all my shopping in real grocery stores, and I don’t have to brave the bazaar in the mud. Third really good coffee has appeared in the grocery stores of Bishkek. It’s a good price, tastes good, and it’s roasted in Russia and marketed for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, so there is a good chance it’s here to stay:-). Who knows where they ended up!
Rebecca's Notes: inflation, food, and trying to live...
http://centralasiangirl.blogspot.com/2007/09/inflation-food-and-trying-to-live.html
A little bit on my life in Central Asia. Inflation, food, and trying to live. Although the article is about Uzbekistan the same problem is going on here in Kyrgyzstan. We haven't had any protest yet, but it will definitely be a very difficult winter for many people. DUBAI, 4 September 2007 (IRIN) - Sharp increases in the prices of basic foodstuffs are causing discontent and sporadic protests in Uzbekistan, say rights activists. According to Ikramov, a schoolteacher or a doctor earns about $70-80, which i...

http://grace-h.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html
Little pictures of my life as a Pediatrics resident. Friday, February 29, 2008. Wonderful news this morning - my CF project (which I have been laboring over for years) is going to be published! And now my research is going to be published (as a letter-to-the-editor, not quite as good as an article, but not nearly as much work either) in one of the big time medical journals (. For you medical folks). Hooray! Wednesday, February 27, 2008. From Renal to the ED. And glad to be going to the ER!
Glimpses of Grace: San Francisco, August 2009

Little pictures of my life as a Pediatrics resident. Friday, June 11, 2010. San Francisco, August 2009. Last summer, Mom and I took a Medical Spanish course in San Francisco. Our afternoons were mostly free time (for "studying"), so we got to explore the city a little bit. One of my favorite things that we did was renting bikes and riding across the Golden Gate Bridge! Here we are with our bikes overlooking the beach, and the second picture is a view of the coastline from the bridge.

Little pictures of my life as a Pediatrics resident. Sunday, September 23, 2007. Only 3 days left in the NICU, and I haven't posted since - well - before I started Heme/Onc, so it's been awhile! I'll start with a general update and then try to post more often. :). I am really ready for this month to be over! In other news - I got to be a model for our friend David last week - he was doing a photography project for a class. Look at his blog (see the link at right) for one of the pictures!
