Thursday, 15 April 2010. This blog now consists of 25% recycled material. I found an article I wrote in 2002 when I was a member of Caer Clud, a druidry group full of mirth and companionship that inspired me and was a cruicible for many things. But everything has its season and Caer Clud has now, in the words of one of the co-founders,"faded into the mists". It’s much more fun to do it outside. Or maybe I just enjoy going out and getting myself muddy from time to time. Because I can, because I want to.

Wednesday, 25 June 2008. Back to my roots. 8230;and this year it has only stirred me enough to blow the dust from my bookjacket. Maybe it is the city I live in or maybe it is the six-day week I work. Maybe I’m just not making time for connection anymore. Like the friend you keep meaning to call and then feel more awkward with each passing day that you don’t. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Sunday, 15 June 2014. In a clearing in the middle of the deep greenwood sits a man in a patch of dappled sunlight, careless of his simple robe, cross-legged and barefoot on the forest floor. Around him are arrayed books and journals, alongside a burlap satchel containing an assortment of curious items he has gathered along his way. From time to time he looks up, reaches out to select a new journal, swimming through the lines and words, bathing in the pools and currents of these memories. Satisfied with h...

Tuesday, 14 February 2012. Romance should never be permanent. Let love abide for eras and lifetimes, romance is not a thing of such endurance. It is instead a thing of turning seasons and perfect afternoons and strings of precious moments. It is of dreamy wandering through autumn leaves with the first of the frosts nibbling at ears and noses, of the careless but deliberate brush of hands across a café table. What weight of roses or volumes of poetry could compare? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). We Stand Wit...

Wednesday, 29 April 2015. Artist and source unknown. This was the point from which my Beltane Faerie Story. Amidst it all, a correspondence between myself, Penny Billington. The White Council (c) New Line Cinema. The story was published in Touchstone and then featured on Druidcast Episode 84. I had that mix of feeling happy that work I had done was out in the world and fearful of having put myself out there quite so visibly. Bren. Saturday, 31 December 2011. Out of darkness and into light. So for my battered soul, that the last sunset of this year should be indistinct and muted could not be more welcome. A peaceful graduation through gentle shades of grey. The dark is not just a place of dreaming and forgetting, to only use it in this way would be to refuse its true power. For within the dark there are no distractions, only the stillness needed to truly confront my past and my future. It was a powerful proclamation of one woman, h...

Wednesday, 31 October 2007. It's not a subtle metaphor, what my little garden teaches me about life. The mistakes and mixed results that teach me to try things differently next time. Unexpected joys and wonders and things. Which are good enough to eat. Spring and summer, autumn and winter, they'll all roll around again and again whether I get my hands dirty or not.
